August 2026 Everquest Test Server Patch Notes
Resource Hunter gets the longest section, but the change that matters most is the Cleric epic 1.0: Shmendrik Lavawalker's respawn comes down and the chain loot locks to whoever did the turn in, which closes the multi-quest that handed the epic to people who had done none of it.
Resource Hunter takes up most of the page, and it is worth reading, but the change I would point at first is the Cleric epic 1.0. Shmendrik Lavawalker's respawn comes down and the loot in that chain now locks to whoever did the turn in, which quietly closes a multi-quest people have used for years to hand the epic to someone who had done none of it. There is also double loot on visible armour components for six months, and it lands two weeks before Lethar opens.
The Cleric Epic Bottleneck
Fixed after all these years.
- Shmendrik Lavawalker's respawn is reduced, which is the single biggest choke point on Water Sprinkler of Nem Ankh when everyone is running the epic at once.
- The sequence around him and the Spirit of Flames changed as well.
- The chain's loot now locks to the character who turned in Lord Bergurgle's Crown.
- That is what closes the multi-quest. It is how the epic was being passed to a player who had done nothing in the quest at all.
- Both halves matter on a fresh server, which is presumably why this is being fixed now rather than at any point in the last two decades.
Resource Hunter, Reworked
The longest section, and mostly sensible.
- Instanced zones now qualify. A group adventure, mission or quest instance gets the same bonuses as the base zone, provided the instance was made after the daily cycle rolled. The bonus then holds until the instance closes.
- Experience and AA bonuses are now more frequent than coin drop and rare spawn bonuses in most zones, which is the right way round.
- Zones with no rare NPCs stop rolling rare spawn bonuses, which is the sort of thing that should never have shipped.
- Coin bonuses are rarer from House of Thule forward.
- Most city zones become eligible for skill, faction and tribute donation bonuses once Gates of Discord unlocks, and most zones can roll a tribute usage bonus at that point too.
- Lost Dungeons of Norrath mission zones are in, minus NPC spawn bonuses.
- Some zones lose experience and faction bonuses and others gain them, which reads like sanity passes on specific lists rather than a rule.
Put Resource Hunter on Lethar. It is on test now and it is the sort of system a fresh progression server would be better for having.
Items, and a Starter Pack
Double loot, for raids only.
- Six months of loot doubling on visible armour components from Shattering of Ro raid chests.
- It should apply to groups too. Raid geared players are the ones who need it least.
- Original character models display helms and robes more reliably, and custom Velious helms now show correctly to other players.
- A new TSS restricted starter pack for Lethar, the time locked progression server opening on the 26th. I could not place it while reading the notes and guessed a bag bundle or a collector's edition.
Spell Fixes Worth Reading Twice
Two of these are written badly.
- Cleric: the Holy Remedy, Holy Light, Promised Renewal and Anticipated Interposition lines no longer have a gap where neither the regular nor the bonus heal lands. That is a real fix.
- Paladin: the Penitence line of self heals now processes the most common heal first and the least common last.
- Gate could still fail 1% of the time with a base effect value of 100. The line needs a rewrite, because as written I cannot tell what was actually wrong.
- A threshold comparison error stopped threshold spells applying when the real value sat very close to the threshold percentage. Same problem: it needs more detail than it got.
Loot Lock and Encounter Lock
Locks now follow the spawn.
- A loot locked NPC that spawns another on death passes the lock on, so the replacement is not free for anyone standing nearby.
- Where encounter locking is enabled, an NPC spawning with a loot lock encounter locks to that player automatically.
- Both locks are forfeit if that player leaves the zone with no group or raid members left in it.
UI and Everything Else
One good addition, several fixes.
- An expansion dropdown on the Find Item and Bazaar windows, which is genuinely nice to have.
- Most items carry no expansion data yet, so it is a filter to combine with others rather than one to rely on.
- The marketplace stops asking for a zip code on every purchase.
- The target ring no longer disappears in situations such as the Tallongast raid, and more decals can render in events that use a lot of them.
- Ashenback raid: the message when someone fails the Don't Stand in the Fire challenge achievement.
- Progression servers: the Contract of the Chosen claim becomes available when Seeds of Destruction unlocks.
- Test copy got an error message fix and a crash fix.
- Names are reservable for Lethar now. Mine is Nomeregard, who will be a Gnome. Voxl exists as well, so there may be one of those running around too.
What Actually Changed
- Shmendrik Lavawalker respawns faster, unblocking the Cleric epic 1.0.
- That chain's loot locks to the turn in character, closing the multi-quest.
- Resource Hunter now covers group instances made after the daily roll.
- Experience and AA bonuses beat coin and rare spawn bonuses in frequency.
- City zones get skill, faction and tribute bonuses at Gates of Discord.
- Six months of double visible armour components from Shattering of Ro raid chests.
- Cleric and Paladin heal lines fixed.
- Loot locks pass to spawned NPCs.
- Expansion filter added to Find Item and Bazaar.
- Lethar opens August 26. Reserve a name.

Hello and welcome to some EverQuest test server test update for August 11th, 2026. Right, [music] so exciting news. Some new test server changes right before the launch of Luclin. Let’s see what we got dealing with today. Highlights made several improvements to the resource hunter system. See the progression servers section for more details. Okay. Items applied a six-month loot doubling mechanism to visual armor components dropped in Shattered a Road Raid chest. Wow, double loot. >> [laughter] >> That is crazy. Uh, for raid too. That they should apply that to the uh, the groups. I think that would be nice there, too. Original character models should now display helms and robes more reliably. Fixed an issue preventing custom Velious helmets from displaying properly to other players. Created a new TSS restricted time-locked progression starter pack for Luclin. Uh, I have no idea what that is. Is it Is it already live? Oh, I I’m going to guess it’s just a new uh, bag bundle. Maybe it’s uh, the collector’s edition. I That [music] would be some That would be some hype. Uh, quests and events. Ashenback raid that was a message when the someone fails the don’t stand in the fires challenge achievement. Water sprinkler of Nim Ankh. This is the cleric epic 1.0. Changed the sequence of events for Shmendrik Lavawalker and the spirit of flames. The loot in the encounter chain should now be locked to the character that turned in Lord S’kraal’s arm. Reduced the spawn time of Shmerkle Lava Walker. Now, this is a significant bottleneck right here. This is a significant bottleneck for the cleric epic one when everybody’s trying to do it, right? This is how >> [music] >> people were multi-questing the the epic one to, you know, someone who hadn’t done anything at all in the quest, right? So, you do this [music] and it it multi-quests a lot of, you know, a lot of little things to somehow, which is pretty interesting. Uh that they fixed it after all these years. Spells all fixed all fixed an issue with the gate spells [music] uh effect that could still fail 1% of the time even with a base effect one [music] value of 100. All right. That line needs a rewrite. I’m not 100% sure what’s going on there. Fixed the threshold comparison error that could prevent spells with thresholds from applying [music] effects when actual values were very close to the threshold percentages. All right, need some more information on that one. Uh one feels that one feels like it’s missing something. Uh cleric fixed the holy remedy, holy light, promise renewal, and anticipated interposition spell lines sissa so that there was no longer a gap spell lines sissa sissa uh where neither where neither the regular nor the bonus heals would land. Promise renewal promise renewal uh paladin flipped the order of the heals in the pestilence line of self heals so that the most common heal is preceded [music] or processed first and the least common heal is processed last. I have I I literally played a paladin to 130 and I have no idea what the pest and pentance? Line of I I can’t even remember what that spell line is. I think it’s the self buff I think is what it is. Pentance I I think that’s what it is. I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know. Uh, see here. NPCs, loot locked NPCs that spawn another NPC when they die now pass the loot lock to the spawned NPC. [music] On servers with encounter locking enabled, NPCs that spawn with loot lock will now automatically encounter [music] lock to that player if the player [snorts] leaves the zone. No uh, and no other group or raid members are in the zone, both locks are forfeit. Progression servers, if [music] you have a contract of the chosen claim, it is available when it is now available when the seeds of destruction unlocks. Resource hunter, uh, most zones now have a low frequency to get a tribute usage bonus when gates of distribute [music] gates of discord is unlocked. Zones without rare NPCs should no longer get rare NPC [music] spawn bonuses. Lost dungeons of Norrath mission zones are now eligible for bonuses, notably excluding NPC spawn bonuses. Coin drop bonuses are now less frequent in the House of Thule and later expansions. Several specific zones that did not benefit from experience and faction bonuses can no longer get them while other zones are now more [music] likely to get them. I’m assuming this is like Kale has a chance to get a faction bonus whereas Guk doesn’t, you know? You know, logical things that make sense, right? Uh see here, experience and AA experience bonuses now have higher frequency than coin drop and rare spawn bonuses across most zones. Most city zones are now eligible for skill and faction bonuses as well as tribute donation bonuses when Gates of Discord unlocks. Instance zones created when requesting a group-based adventure, mission, or quest can now receive [music] the same resource resource hunter bonuses as the [music] base version of the zone. This only applies to instances created after the daily cycle of bonuses occurs, but the bonus will persist [music] until the instance closes. Miscellaneous, fixed [music] one of the test copy error messages does not properly displaying, fixed an issue of test copy that could cause servers to crash. The marketplace no longer requires you to enter a zip code with every purchase, resolved an issue that caused the target ring to disappear in certain situations such as Talongast raid. Additionally, more decals can now be rendered in this and other events that use significant amounts of them. UI added an expansion drop-down to the find item and bizarre windows. Note that most items don’t have this [music] data yet. It should be used in conjunction with other item filters. Oh, that is very nice. Thanks for bringing that in. Changed the UI uh bizarre search window, and the find item window. And let’s see here, resource hunter is available on test server. [music] Now, I would like you maybe maybe like put a little resource hunter in Lothar. Yeah, man. Throw some Throw some love at it. Throw all the love at it you can. But, there you go. Test server update for August 2026. [music] Looks good. Looks good. Um Lothar launches on the 26th, I believe. Uh let me double-check that real quick before I >> [music] >> close this out cuz I don’t know when the next video I will make is going to be. Da da da da da. Time for reserve. Yeah, August 26th. You can reserve your name now if you have not. I have reserved my name. My name will be >> [music] >> Nomergod. So, expect to see Nomergod in his little journey throughout uh Lothar. >> [music] >> I do have Voxel also. So, I mean there may be a Voxel running around with it. I don’t know. I haven’t decided what I’m going to do yet. I know there’s going to be a Nomergod. He’s going to be a gnome. And that’s about as far as I got in that thought [music] process there. Uh we’ll see how it goes. But, uh there you go. So, you can reserve your name for Lothar. You know, it’s going to be fun. >> [music] >> Uh so, thank you very much for watching. And please have a fantastic day.
