Lord Nagafen - WAR / BRD / DRU - d4 - solo

Nagafen at difficulty four in 5:11, against eight minutes on the first attempt, with the whole ladder from zero timed alongside it. Resist gear is skipped on purpose: 400 to 500 fire resist in beta changed nothing, and he still hit for 400 to 600.

August 20, 2026

Lord Nagafen at difficulty four, solo, with Warrior, Bard and Druid. The kill itself is routine now, so the interesting part is the ladder underneath it: every difficulty from zero up is timed, and the first difficulty four attempt took eight minutes against five today. There is also one honest mistake left in, the wrong slow memorised for the whole fight, and a piece of gear advice that runs against the obvious: resist gear is not worth the slots here.

The Whole Ladder, Timed

Every difficulty on the same build, same day.

Difficulty His health Kill time Notes
032,1001:50Nothing to plan around
135,2002:08
252,6003:21
370,2004:29
475,5005:11He picks up Necromancer and Cleric here

Health is measured rather than read off the screen, from eqldb's median across three to five kills at each tier. It explains most of the ladder but not all of it: he gains 2.4 times the health between zero and four while the kill takes 2.8 times as long, and the gap is the healing his own damage forces on you.

The first difficulty four kill took eight minutes. Nothing about the build changed to get to five, so the gap is gear ranks and knowing the fight, not a different approach.

Skip the Resist Gear

Tested properly in beta, and it did nothing.

  • Full resist gear in every slot was tried, at somewhere around 400 to 500 fire resist.
  • He still hit for 400 to 600 a time. No measurable difference, so the slots went back to stats.
  • Magic resist is irrelevant solo, because you cannot be feared when there is nobody else to run into.
  • No resist songs either. The melody slots are worth more as damage.

Worth re-testing if you have the gear spare. This was measured in beta and may have been changed since, but it has not behaved differently on live so far.

The Slow He Had Memorised Wrong

Left in, because the parse caught it.

  • Largo's Melodic Binding was in the melody for the whole fight, which is the level 20 song, not the one this build wants.
  • It does not land on him and it does no damage, so it was a wasted slot from start to finish.
  • Selo's Chords of Cessation is the one you want, at level 48. It lands, and it is consistently one of the top two damage sources in these fights.
  • Both are point blank area songs hitting up to eight, which is exactly why the mistake is easy to make. The difference is the damage and whether it sticks, not the shape.
  • He died anyway, which is a reasonable measure of how much margin the build has at this difficulty.

The Fight

Turn him, dot him, tank him.

  • Turn him away as you engage, then Drifting Death, then the regen song.
  • Defensive with inversion is the filming setup. Going offensive costs you attention, not survivability.
  • He is always a Warrior, and the Necromancer and Cleric were the random pair this run, which is where the extra magic damage comes from and why healing runs higher than usual. The extra classes are rolled, so do not plan around these two specifically.
  • The damage shield clicky was forgotten and cast mid fight. Potions still land while face tanking; you pay for it in damage, not in risk.
  • Swap to offensive for the last few percent once he is clearly going down.

What the Parse Says

Auto attack carries this one.

  • Slashing is the single highest damage ability, which is not what you would expect from a build with this many dots on it.
  • 531 max hit at a 16% crit rate on ordinary swings.
  • Cleave, Kick and Bash are all minor. Bash in particular looks like it crits more than it does when you watch the log go past.
  • Drifting Death was cast about twice and still produced close to 5,000 damage.
  • Ten heals total, five Forest's Renewal for around 5,000 and five heal over times, topping out at 1,049.
  • One damage source in the log is still unidentified, logged as flames and not the damage shield, which gets summed separately.

Why He Is Farmed

Two items, and neither dropped.

  • Cloak of Flames and Bladestopper to plus ten are the only reasons to keep coming back on this character.
  • Four Bladestoppers, no Cloak of Flames on the day, which is the run in miniature.
  • Prayers of Life did drop, an instant cast group heal for around 700 and not lore, so it is the sort of thing that turns a fight you cannot win into one you can.
  • Clearing to him is the real cost. The kill is five minutes; getting there is the slog.

Lord Nagafen, Solo, at Difficulty Four

  1. Leave the resist gear at home. It was measured and it did not help.
  2. Check you memorised Selo's Chords of Cessation, not Largo's Melodic Binding.
  3. Click the damage shield potion before you pull, not during.
  4. Turn him away from the room as you engage.
  5. Drifting Death first, then the regen song.
  6. Defensive with inversion if you want to think about something else.
  7. Expect more healing than usual. He rolled Necromancer and Cleric on top of Warrior this run, and the pair varies.
  8. Go offensive to close it out.
  9. Budget for the clear, which is longer than the fight.

Hello and welcome to Lord Nagafen, warrior, [laughter] bard, druid, uh difficulty four. Today we’re going to kill him. Uh and sorry about the rough start. Uh so, uh let’s talk about spells. These are what I’m using. Force’s Renewal, Affliction’s Heal, uh Poison Chant, Frost Chant, Disease Chant, Magic Chant. I got my charm up. I got Drifting Death up. I got uh Chloroplast up cuz that’s just like the last spell I cast. I don’t even think it landed on my turn pet, anyway. Uh let’s do that. And then uh Chord of Dissonance Dissonance Disruptive Discord Largo’s uh Melodog Binding. Geez, I can’t say that. But that’s our slow. Uh we got Katana of Soothing, which is our uh regen, and then our haste spell here at the end. So, we’re We’ve already cleared everything up until this point. So, we’re about to go into uh the room. Now, is that the right Yeah, that’s the right map. Oh, it looks nice. I’ve been uh tweaking the filtering on the map. All right, so I’ve updated the uh the log parser a little bit. So, hopefully uh hopefully that will uh turn turn out. Uh while I was waiting on this. All right, so here he is. We’re going to run in. I’m going to turn him around like so. First thing I’m going to do is I’m going to drift his death. And then I’m going to cast my uh regen. And then I’m going to do this. Now, I’m going to be taking uh a lot of damage per tick here. Wait, let’s see here. What’s Lava Breath doing in this difficulty? I can’t tell. He’s a He’s a necromancer and a cleric. So, that’s going to be a little bit painful. Now, we we did add this little uh damage uh uh meter, right? So, there’s a damage meter under >> [laughter] >> under the DPS meter, right? So, this is the current, like what I’m doing in the in this in this in this round, right? You can see we peaked at like a a thousand because I think we got a dot crit, right? So, I don’t know. Just some visualization that Claude thought was a good idea. Now, uh we started marking things as pets in the parser here, so that’s good. And I’m going to have it so it expands these out and so you can see real time, you know, where the damage is coming from, but uh I don’t think that made it into this build. All right, let’s go ahead and do that. Switch back, heal ourselves. And let’s throw a heal on. Now, I’m doing this in defensive with uh inversion. Uh defensive Defensive is the best for making videos, honestly. If you’re if you’re not making videos like I do all the time, uh you can definitely, you know, swap these around more and you’ll see in in some fights I do start to swap my around more for more damage, but uh you know, it is what it is. Our buffs are pretty much the same uh as normal, all the all the druid buffs, right? Uh we’ll talk about those all the buffs in the in the uh final video of the for the build and we’ll talk about every spell and you know, the choices I made for some of those. Uh we didn’t do damage shield cuz I forgot to click it. Let me see if I can get it off right now. Uh it’s not going to work. Come on. There we go. I I find casting potions uh well, obviously you’re taking a DPS loss, right? But uh it still feels like they always uh they always click. It still landed. I’m tank, face tanking. So, uh definitely interesting there. But, uh there we go. So, and uh I I’ll show the the times for the last four on this one, so you can see how how much longer this one takes than the previous ones, which is probably a significant number. I have no idea, but uh I’m going to guess it’s pretty bad. Cuz it was quite a slog to to clear my way up here. I’m not going to lie. There we go. And I typically I typically don’t do the dragons uh more than, you know, what I need, but I’m still, you know, I’m I’m trying to get my cloak flames up to plus and my blade stopper up plus 10. So, that’s like literally all everything I use from this guy, so I have not gotten a single cloak of flames today, though I got like four blade stoppers, so I got that going. I got that going for me. All right, looking pretty good. We’re at uh what, 80% mana? You know, I’m doing more healing than uh you know, normally, but I am taking extra magic damage. I don’t I don’t do the resist songs. I feel like it’s a little I I I tried like the very first time I did this in beta. I went full resist gear in every slot, and I was still getting hit for the 400 to 600 damage every single time. And I was at I think 400, 500 uh fire resist, and then uh it the magic I didn’t worry about, because you don’t get feared when you’re solo. Uh and I I saw no difference. They may have changed that since since then, but uh uh I I did not did not experience anything like that. All right, it looks like he’s winding down here right now. There we go. If I’m not mistaken, this uh this is damage done. This is DPS, so he’s done 28,000 damage. 29,000 damage, 99 DPS is what he’s doing. If I’m not mistaken, let’s do a heal plus a bloom or a heal over time, and then we’ll just finish him off here. Go and switch into offensive. And boom. >> [laughter] >> What a loot What What a What a loot Like What a loot, right? Now, these these are items I have not gotten until today. Uh Prayer of Life is instant cast, and I don’t think there’s a recast time on this. Uh group heal. Like 700-point heal. Uh non-lore. I mean, if I if I couldn’t kill something, I can kill it today. Right? And then we got another uh dragon bag there. Let me get a screenshot first cuz I don’t think I I’ll I’ll have one otherwise. All right, let’s just just like that. Like There we go. Screenshot and [music] one more. I wish my my mana would regenerate a little faster, so that little bar would go away. Right? There we go. Wolf power, right? All right. So, let’s loot the bag and grab the logs. All All right, and encounters Naga fin. All right, you can see there’s a few Naga fins in here. All right, so we got 5:11 for the kill time there with 4:20 29 on three >> [music] >> 3:21 on two, 2:08 on one and 1 minute and 50 seconds for the kill on D zero. Now, if we look go back like this is my very first kill. I think I don’t I don’t know if all the logs are in here, but uh looks looks to be this is my first kill it was like the day after the launch day, right? Like the day after maybe the second day. I had some internet issues. I couldn’t get on. But we killed him pretty quick. But let’s see here. Where’s my first D4? First D4 was 8 minutes. Now I’m at 5 minutes, right? So definitely some gains there. Let’s pull this up and take a look at all the data, right? So uh we did 84,000 damage. Now, what does that mean? This means I did I did 63,000 damage. And then the pet did 15,000 damage. All right, I was I’m like, “Wow, these numbers aren’t adding up.” What are you doing, Claude? All right, 204 DPS average for the whole fight. We took 24,000 damage, all right. So that’s pretty pretty intense. Uh we had a 12% crit melee crit chance, 20% spell crit chance, and 11% dot [music] crit chance. Now, it looks to be that our melee our slashing in particular was our highest damaging ability, right? >> [music] >> Uh so that I’ll group that. Our max hit was 531. And that had a 16% chance or just our auto attacks, right? 16% chance crit. So that’s pretty good. I mean pretty good. Um considering we’re a warrior built. Uh and then cleave, you know, way down below there and then kick kick and bash pretty low. I’ve I’ve I like looking at the data like visually through the log, right? It looks like bash crits more than it does, but it didn’t. [music] And then we have drifting death. I don’t really cast this like twice, but it did what? Almost 5,000 damage and most of the damage now. Uh I don’t think I was in over channel. So if we look here, where do I got I got I have resists. Yeah, resists. Um the Largo’s melodic binding. So I didn’t even Do I even have the right spell on there? I don’t even have the [music] right I can spell. All right, so I had the wrong uh the wrong the wrong uh slow, right? That’s that’s the wrong one. So that’s that’s on me for meming the wrong spell. I think it’s the lower level AoE slow, which uh isn’t going to land and doesn’t do damage, so eh, we still beat it. And then uh some other resist there. And let’s see here. Healing, well we did a little extra healing on this one. What uh 5,000 from uh force renewal, which was five heals, and then looks like we did five uh efflorescence heals, so 10 heals total. Not too bad. Uh the the effervescence thing heal, this one right here, this is the heal over time. So, it ticks every every tick, but our max heal was uh 1040 uh 1049 there. Not too bad. All right, and see your flames. Oh, so this flames, what what the hell is flames? What is flames? I don’t know what flames is. That is Let me see if I can see what it is here cuz that one Yeah, cuz we got that one. Love breath. Not 100% sure what flames is. I thought it was the uh damage shield, but all the damage shield gets all added together, so Okay, so there we go. And then you can see here is the timeline, we got that uh I got that fixed. So, it shows the timeline of hits throughout the fight, right? So, it it’s kind of hard to see and hard to understand, but theoretically, you would be able to take the chance, right? So, and these chance would line up with the correct spell, you know, the spell times, and you [music] would be like, “What’s your you know, how many could you have possibly had in that you know, that fight and stuff like that?” And you can see here this one resisted a lot. And we got some resists on these, right? So, it’s it’s pretty interesting data. Uh some of this will be in the the blog post for the video, but uh uh we’re still work- I’m still working on I’m still working on that. I’m getting the maps in the in the right now, so it’ll work pretty good, but there you go. That’s uh that’s Naga- Nagafen in difficulty four, warrior, druid, bard. So, if you have any questions or comments, uh you want to see more uh of the data or stuff like that, I will be exporting it and putting it into a some kind of visualization for the written guide, which will be available shortly after this video goes live. Give or take whatever I can get it done, but there we go. Not too bad. I believe I’m going to be doing Lady Vox next, so we’ll see then. Thank you very much for watching and please have a fantastic day.
