Lord Nagafen - SK / MNK / SHM - d4 - solo
Lord Nagafen at difficulty four with Shadow Knight, Monk and Shaman, killed in 1:49 on the same gear and spells as the Lady Vox and Innoruuk runs. I parse 581 DPS myself and 683 with the Shaman pet, one Spirit of the Puma does about 7,400 on its own, and the melee procs are the weak part. The next build I want is Monk, Necromancer and Shaman.
Lord Nagafen at difficulty four with Shadow Knight, Monk and Shaman, the solo run of this build. The equipment and spells are the ones from the Lady Vox and Innoruuk videos, so there is not much to say about setup. The fight takes 1:49, mostly in balanced stance because I never got round to the attack abilities. I parse 581 DPS myself and 683 with the Shaman pet, and the Shaman's spells carry the whole thing. The melee procs are the weak part, and the next build I want to try swaps the Shadow Knight for a Necromancer.
The Setup
Same gear, same bar, almost nothing new.
- This is the solo run. As I read the captions I plan to play through the multiplayer versions as well, just not today.
- The equipment is the Lady VoxEverQuest LegendsLady VoxLava Dragon ClericLevel55ZoneThe Permafrost CavernsLoc: (857, -262)AC470HP regen17Mana regen17Health: measured, per difficultyd0 31,753 to 40,975 · 10 kills · hit 571d1 35,548 to 41,254 · 9 kills · hit 599d2 50,987 to 62,111 · 10 kills · hit 642d3 74,482 (69,568 to 79,396) · 10 kills · hit 638d4 78,866 (75,478 to 82,254) · 9 kills · hit 666Fire70Disease340Cold1000Magic340Poison340Per round4 (?)Speed83%SpecialBanish, Dragon Roar, Frost Breath, Complete Heal, Enrage, Summon, Uncharmable, Unfearable, Unmezzable, Unstunnable, See Invis, See-hide, Belly Caster and InnoruukEverQuest LegendsInnoruuk, the Prince of HateZoneThe Plane of HateHealth: measured, per difficultyd0 32,074 (31,894 to 32,253) · 10 kills · hit 1,600d1 35,294 (35,080 to 35,507) · 10 kills · hit 1,512d2 51,037 to 60,776 · 10 kills · hit 894d3 73,627 to 89,929 · 14 kills · hit 983d4 80,068 to 122,513 · 27 kills · hit 1,026 set. The captions say Lady Fox, which I take to be Lady Vox. Maybe a plus one on something somewhere, and I did not spend time reorganizing or improving it.
- The spells are the same as well. The only change I can name is that the Shaman pet may have gone up to level eight.
- I cast Spirit of the PumaEverQuest Legends

- I slow him first and life tap while the slow recharges, then lay down Envenomed BoltEverQuest Legends

The captions give the slow and the heal as names I cannot read, so I have left them unnamed, and I read Poison Bolt and Venom Bolt as Envenomed Bolt. - Once every effect is running I am at 100% health. At 38 seconds in I was at 606 DPS and the pet was at 96.
- I refresh the dots as they run out. Odium, Envenomed Bolt and the heal each get recast when their timers get low.
- After that it is close combat and nothing else. I did not use the attack abilities at all and stayed in the balanced stance, which is why it took as long as it did.
- I ran out of endurance and waited for it to come back. The captions say stamina. Next time the kill will be faster.
- The loot was a second blade stopper, as the captions have it, and one more item. The rest sold itself.
What the Parse Says
The tier barely moves the clock.
- 1:49 at difficulty four, mostly in balanced stance. Difficulty three took 1:27, two took 1:30, one took 1:00 and zero took 1:02.
- The spread between tiers is random chance, meaning whether the things I want to work do work, and not the difficulty itself.
- 581 DPS from me, 101 from the Shaman pet, 683 together. I sometimes find pets hard to count, so I trust the total less than my own figure.
- Nagafen did 132 DPS to me, which I call a weak result.
- Critical chances, as I read the garbled captions: 9.2% on melee, where the caption says mail, 10.9% on spells, 14.5% on damage over time and 8% on heals.
- I hit about 67.5% of the time and missed about 30%. As I understand it, offensive stance gives a 25% to hit bonus and balanced stance gives that up for defense, so the misses may be the stance. He missed me 18% of the time.
The Spells Doing the Work
The Shaman's toolkit, in numbers.
- One Spirit of the Puma did about 7,400 damage for 90 mana and a 2 minute 42 second duration. It is probably one of the most mana efficient spells in the game.
- A single damage touch did about 8,000. I call that madness and free money. Going into a boost stance right before it would in theory add more, but I like the faster spells.
- The puma on the pet did 22 hits for 4,100 damage, which is where most of the pet's damage comes from.
- The pet's Earthquake is out of reach for now. He needs to be level 45, and I do not want to spend more motes on that pet spell.
- The Shaman's toolkit is the best in the game. I am not asking for it to be weakened. I am always for improvement, and I could think of a million ways to buff the other two healers.
- Take the Shaman out and this is a tough fight. I will not pretend otherwise.
The Melee Side Is Weak
The procs and the strike both need work.
- Life Bite, the left hand proc, fired once. It needs a trigger multiplier of around 150% to be worth having.
- Vampiric Embrace triggered five times for 1,500 damage. More procs are needed for every melee class if they are to be interesting.
- Siphon, on the right hand weapon, fired once. I call that a joke.
- Reaving Strike did 3,100, about what a Warrior's cleave does, so for me it is a minus. It costs 3% of my health a hit, and I do not think more health would ever make that worth it.
- Kicks and bashes are hard to separate in the logs. I assume a jump kick and a bash.
Healing and Damage Taken
Small numbers on both sides.
- About 7,000 healing against 11,000 damage taken. I do not know exactly how that balances, but it does.
- Leech Touch gave back 1,600 health. Drain Spirit, Life Bite and Siphon each healed once, and the captions have the rest too garbled to use.
- Nagafen made 77 attacks to my almost 600. His biggest stab was 214, and Lava Breath was his heaviest hit, a little above that.
- Mend does not show in the logs, so I cannot tell what it recovered, if anything. It would be an improvement if it did.
- The dots stayed up the whole fight. Envenomed Bolt held through some overlap between effects.
Where the Build Goes Next
A Necromancer in place of the Shadow Knight.
- Monk, Necromancer and Shaman is probably the next build. A lot of people have asked for a Necromancer, so it is firmly on my list.
- It adds periodic damage, which is the interesting part. By my reading the crit rate would stay about the same and the crit damage would rise with all the extra damage over time.
- Giving up the damage touch is probably fine. Necromancers have Lifeburn, as the captions have it.
- Starting the fight in the attacking stance would likely have saved about 30 seconds. I could have done a little better there.
- Nagafen at difficulty four, solo, improved if I may say so: 1:49 with Shadow Knight, Monk and Shaman.
Nagafen at Difficulty Four, SK / MNK / SHM
- Cast Spirit of the Puma before the pull. It lasts long enough to cover the whole fight.
- Slow him, then layer Envenomed Bolt, Plague and Odium, and refresh each as it runs out.
- Start in the attacking stance. Balanced for most of this kill probably cost about 30 seconds.
- Watch endurance. I ran dry and had to wait for it.
- Expect around 7,000 healing against 11,000 damage taken.
- Do not count on the melee procs. Life Bite, Vampiric Embrace and Siphon barely fired.
- Keep the Shaman. Without it this is a hard fight.

Congratulations on completing Lord Nagafen on difficulty four as a Shadow Knight, Monk, and Shaman. So, uh, also solo. I plan to play through the solo multiplayer versions , but, uh, not today. This build is quite powerful. The equipment is the same as in the video with Lady Fox and Innoruuk. So it’s almost identical. Maybe a plus one to something somewhere, but everything else is the same . I didn’t waste time organizing or improving my equipment. The spells are the same. The pet may have been leveled up to level eight. That’s all. Okay, let’s, uh, do this. Less words, more action. OK. Buff, buff. I quit Puma beforehand because it lasts a long time, why not? Let’s go. I’ll turn it around and then slow it down. I know what will work, right? That’s the way it is . I used “Touch of Pain” now. I throw “Little”. While I wait for the recharge, I’ll use “Snails ”. So I’m healing while I’m doing this. OK. So , “Little” is on it. Now let’s use ” Poison Bolt”. Let’s use “Plague”. And “Odium”. Now all the effects are working and I’m fine. We are 100% healthy. OK. You see, 38 seconds, 606 damage per second from me. The pet deals 96 damage. Not bad. Not bad at all . OK. It looks like it’s time to update ” Odium”. So, seven. And we will update “Poison Bolt”. Let’s update ” Snails”. 4 seconds left. Done. Let’s use “Touch of Pain.” That is, no, “The Blow of Life.” ” Sucking out the spirit.” That’s it. 36%. Not so bad, right? Everything is pretty simple with this build . We just continue the close combat. Nothing special to add. Oh, I didn’t even use the attack abilities. I was still in defensive balance. That’s why it took so long . Okay, well, that’s it . I’ve run out of stamina. And I was waiting for it to be restored during the admission. Well, okay. It doesn’t matter. Absolutely no importance. Next time we’ll kill faster. That’s it . Boom. Done. Did anything interesting happen? Another blade stopper, not bad. One more item. And things that automatically sold out. So, here it is . Let’s look at DPS. OK. Zoom in on this. Now you see all the fights here. So, D4 lasted 1 minute 49 seconds, mostly in a balanced stance . D3 lasted 1:27. D2 lasted 1:30. D1 lasted 1 minute, and D0 lasted 1 minute and 2 seconds. You know, the difference is the random chance of it working, right? So let’s turn off the overlay, let’s show this. You see our rack marker here, right? We were in a balanced stance the whole time . This is where we changed the racks. And you see that the overall damage profile increased a little bit, but there wasn’t enough time, you know what I mean? Do you understand what I mean? My DPS was 581. My pet, the shaman’s pet, gave out 101 DPS. So, if you don’t mind . So my total DPS was 683 per fight, including pets. I sometimes have a hard time counting pets, so yes. Hmm, Nagafin, what did he give out? 132 DPS. Weak results. OK. We had a 9.2% critical strike chance with spells on my mail. Spells—10.9 %. Periodic damage— 14.5%. So, it’s not that bad. And we had an 8% critical chance of cure. So, we had a 67% hit rate, it seems like we miss more in this area of the fight because of the balanced stance. Because I don’t think a balanced stance gives a bonus to hitting, right? When you are in an offensive stance, you gain 25% to hit, while in a balanced stance you lose this to defense. Therefore, results may vary. Here. We missed about 30% of the time, so it’s even. But our input data, we got 67.5% too. So , it’s the same. But the misses were 18%. So he missed 18% of the time. We did n’t really have much protection, did we ? But he only made 77 attacks on us, right? Now think about this. I made almost 600 attacks. He made 77 attacks. His maximum incoming hit from a stabbing attack is 214. And splitting. I assume the punching is because he was holding a weapon or something. So, there is very little there. The most he used, you know, was lava breath , that was a little bit more. So, here it is. If we break it down by damage, right? So if we look here, we have an invulnerable 100 DPS. Not so bad, right? Uh, much more than our melee at this point. Uh, I’m thinking of making a monk, a necromancer, a shaman. This is the next build I’ll probably do , because a lot of people have been asking for a necromancer. So, this will definitely be on my to-do list. This will give us more periodic damage, which will be quite interesting. But a touch of damage, one touch of damage, 8,000 damage . Think about it. This is madness. This, this is just like free money. Now, if I were smart and went into boost mode right before using touch damage, theoretically, I could get more damage, right? And I could probably go through all these fights in boost mode, but I like faster spells, so you can choose how to do it. Puma, Puma one spell, one spell, 7,400 damage. Probably one of the most mana-efficient spells in the game. Uh, look at this. 90 mana. Duration 2 minutes 42 seconds. And I get so much damage from it. Now, that’s my pity. Now I do n’t know if I can deploy it. I can’t, oh my god, I can’t. Oh, I love you, Claude. You do exactly what I say when I ask. OK. So the cougar on the pet did 22 hits for 4,100 damage, right? So that’s where most of his damage comes from. Now, I still have an earthquake on my pet. He can’t activate it, of course, because he’s not level 45 yet , because I just don’t feel like spending any more particles on this pet spell. But if he can cast an earthquake spell, he’ll do a little more damage. But you see here, I did n’t even know I could deploy them. Claude is a wonderful little beast. But you can see, you know, how everything levels out there, right? It’s about the same thing . Uh, but, uh, yeah. What is this ? We only used the medium bullet twice. Wow, that’s how fast this fight was. Um, you see Odium two more, right? 67—this is another issue. It’s like, the Shaman’s toolkit is the best in the game. I just can’t think of a class that has as many as the Shaman, right ? This does not mean that the Shaman should be weakened. I never call for relaxation. I’m always all for improvement, and I could think of a million ways to buff the other two healers, but um. Weakening the Shaman is not on the list of things I would ever advise doing. Now, uh, Life Bite, our left- hand proc, once. It is needed, it needs to be improved. It doesn’t work at all . He needs a trigger multiplier of around 150% to make it worth the effort, right? Many of these procs are set to become more frequent. This applies to all melee classes. But you see for yourself. In Vampiric Embrace, we got five triggers for 1500 damage. More is needed. We need more procs for melee classes to make them interesting. And now, if I took Shaman out of the equation, it would be a tough fight. I won’t lie. I won’t lie. Siphon, my weapon in my right hand— one shot. It’s just a joke, right? Punch 79 DPS, my right hand—59 DPS, right? Punch—this is my left hand because I lost my main item, right ? So I lead to the fact that I would switch to a monk, a shaman, a necromancer, then I do two plus 10 wu with all the dot. Which would increase my critical strike chance, it would remain the same, but the damage from crits would increase due to the necromancer. So you would take significantly more damage. I feel like this could be the next phase of this build. This is a very strong build. You know, refusing harm touch is probably normal. Necromancers have life burn, right? Reaving strike—it’s actually pretty mediocre damage, if you think about it, right? Reaving strike there is 3100, it’s about like a warrior’s cleave. So for me it’s more of a minus, right? I could probably increase the damage by increasing my health points. But, I just don’t think that number will ever reach a level where I’d say, ” Yeah, it’s worth losing 3% health every time I hit.” Is n’t that right? So you think about it as you go through all of this, but, you know, let’s see. Kicks, probably a jump kick and a “bash”, right? So it’s hard to separate them in the logs, but if you look at the treatment, I applied “he slugs” twice. I got 16 ticks. My duration is about 60 seconds now, so that’s about it. I actually applied it before it disappeared. Um, you can’t click on them. OK. “Leech touch”, I used “harm touch”, so I got my “leech touch” which gave me 1600 health back. Then “peer can brace” healed me a little. I used ” drained spirited” once. And then once “life bite” and once “siphon”. So, I didn’t… Overall, there wasn’t much treatment, right? How much did it cost? 7000 treatments. I took 11,000 damage. I don’t know how it works, but somehow it works. I don’t like that “mend” doesn’t go into the logs, so I can’t see how much I recovered, if any, in that fight. Maybe I’ll try to track it down here somehow, but it doesn’t really show up, at least I don’t think so . Let me see. Treatment. If I apply “mend” now, no. Yes, that’s all it says here , so it would be an improvement if I had that option. Let’s see. So, you see right here. I didn’t change my invocation at all. I stayed in a quick spell, or whatever it’s called. But we switched to attacking mode for the last part of the fight. You can see that everything is going perfectly, right? “Venom bolt” remained activated. We layered the effects on each other a bit, but the “torque cores ” stayed the whole time, right? So everything looks good. Regarding my performance, I feel like I could have done a little better, like starting the fight in an attacking mode. This would probably speed up the fight by about 30 seconds , give or take, but that’s it . That’s all, actually . Nagafen D4 solo, improved, if I may say so. Well, 1 minute 49 seconds with Shadow Knight, Monk, and Shaman. I hope you enjoyed it. Thank you so much for watching and please, please , please, please have a wonderful day. Thank you very much for watching.
More from EverQuest Legends
Master Yael - WAR / ENC / CLR - d4 solo
Master Yael at difficulty four with Warrior, Enchanter and Cleric, a fight I called easy before parsing it at 238 DPS. The level 43 pet does about 19,000 of it, the Beastlord AI slows and plagues me the whole way, and the build needed two Sacred Echoes and never touched Promised Renewal.
Lord Nagafen - WAR / ENC / CLR - d4 - solo
Lord Nagafen at difficulty four with Warrior, Enchanter and Cleric, the fight I expected to be easy and parsed at 233 DPS, about 15 above Lady Vox. A charmed pet adds the rest, I finish with plenty of mana, and I say outright that I am about done with the Enchanter outside of leveling.
Lady Vox - WAR / ENC / CLR - d4 - solo
Lady Vox at difficulty four with Warrior, Enchanter and Cleric, a build I called boring right before parsing it at 217 DPS. A charmed priest does 18,000 of the 78,000, the build cannot realistically die, and I still think the Enchanter is a leveling class more than a boss class.
