The Dead Faction
Farming the Dead faction in Neriak for the Reaper of the Dead quest, by killing one enchanter on repeat across picks. Includes what it costs you elsewhere and how to get that back.
The Dead is the Dark Elf Necromancer and Shadowknight guild, and you need to be amiable with them to start Reaper of the Dead, which hands a Shadowknight a Promised Renewal clicky. Getting there means killing one enchanter in the Neriak jail over and over. The useful parts are the pick hopping trick that makes it fast, and knowing which factions you wreck on the way.
Getting to Her
Down to the jail, and there is a shortcut.
- Head down through Neriak to the jail. Use the map with the filter off; the route doubles back and the arrow will point you wrong. I took a wrong turn on camera doing exactly that.
- The trapdoors drop you in the same place, if you would rather fall than walk it.
- A guard outside drops the guard captain key, which opens the cell door.
- There is a hole in the wall beside it. A small race can jump straight through and skip the key entirely.
- She is an Enchanter at level 25 and may charm you, so bring something that can handle that.
- The ogres down there carry no negative faction, and count toward slayer achievements, so killing them is free value.
Pick Hopping
The trick that turns hours into minutes.
- Kill her in pick zero, then switch to pick one and kill her again. Repeat through the picks.
- Each kill is 47 faction. I started at minus 28 and needed about four kills, but where you start depends on your race and deity, so count your own gap rather than mine.
- Her respawn is about six minutes, which is what you are skipping by hopping.
- Your own instance works too if picks are thin.
- This probably works on live EverQuest as well, though your mileage will vary and the faction matters far more in Legends.
What It Costs You
And how to repair it.
- King Tearis Thex and Faydark's Champions both drop while you do this.
- Muffins for Pandos repairs both, the same Pandos FlintsideEverQuest LegendsPandos FlintsideDwarf WarriorLevel28ZoneWest FreeportLoc: 50% @ (-204, -497, -10.5)AC201HP1064HP regen1Max hit11 - 56Per round2Speed100%SpecialNone turn in used for the Wood Elf race unlock.
- Keepers of the Art also falls, and that one is repaired by handing bat wings to a woman in Felwithe.
- So plan the order: wreck the Dead faction first, then do the muffins, rather than the other way round.
The Achievement Trick
You do not have to keep the faction.
- There is a progression achievement for obtaining maximum faction with the Dead.
- Once you have the achievement, the faction can go, so you are free to repair everything else afterwards.
- You only need amiable to start the quest, not maximum, so decide which you are chasing before you grind.
- It does not gate Dark Elf, so this is not part of that unlock.
Speculation, flagged as such: this may end up mattering for whatever unlocks Innoruuk as a deity. Nothing confirms that, and it is a guess until more is released.
The Dead Faction at a Glance
- Go to Neriak and head down to the jail.
- Take the guard captain key from the guard outside, or jump the hole in the wall.
- Kill the level 25 Enchanter for 47 faction.
- Pick hop rather than waiting out the six minute respawn.
- Four kills or so gets you to amiable, which is all the quest needs.
- Grab the achievement if you want maximum, then let the faction go.
- Repair King Tearis Thex and Faydark's Champions with Muffins for Pandos.
- Repair Keepers of the Art with bat wings in Felwithe.

Hello and welcome to some request legends beta little guide here, right? This is a little quick guide how to get faction for the dead. This is the dark elf necromancer shadow knight guild. You need it to do the reaper of of the dead quest which will give your shadow knight a clicky promised renewal. So this right here. So we’re in Nagina. We zoom out here a little bit. Turn off the filter, right? You go in here. You just go down here. Go through. Go downstairs to the jail right here where I’m at. There’s There was a guy right outside. He drops the guard captain key. You just use that to open this door right there. Right? But this is the lady right here in question. There is a hole in the wall right here so you can probably just jump right through it, right? Theoretically. There we go. So if you’re small like me, you can just jump through the hole. But then you want to kill her. Um She’s the mob. She’s going to She’s going to lose faction, right? And you can see here we got uh 47 faction with the the dead, right? Now if we click on that to do the quest you need amicably which is uh Where are we at here? -28. We need to get to 160-ish, I guess. Depending on that’s how that works for everybody there. So it’s going to take a few kills. Now you’ll notice that you’re losing keeper of the yards. Uh King Fex, right? So if I I click on King Fex, I’m ally, right? So there is another quest you can do. I have another video on the channel somewhere. Uh muffins for Pandos. Pandos, I think is his name. Um Let me double check that real quick. Uh What is that? That was high elf, right? Yeah, muffins for Pandos. Yeah, so you turn those in there to him, you’ll get your king king Terrace faction back and you will get your Fate Arc champions back and you will get uh no Keepers of the Art. To get your Keepers of the Art, you’re going to want to do bat wings to a lady in uh in uh Felwithe. So, that is going to be where you’re going to get that faction back. So, ideally, what you do is you get your faction of the Dead up, you know, to whatever you need to. Uh there might even be an achievement for this. Um Let me check real quick. Uh if I go here, achievement, and then progression. And then scroll the way down here to the bottom. Uh the Dead, right? It was obtain maximum faction of the Dead. So, all you need to do is get this like you get the achievement if you want to get it. Uh you need amiably to do the quest, but once you have the achievement, you don’t have to keep the faction. And uh I don’t think it it has it doesn’t have to do anything with unlocking dark elves, so you’re good there. It might, you know, turn into whatever is the deity to unlock uh Inner Rok, right? Uh I don’t know. That’s speculation. But, when that’s all released, it’ll be there. So, uh the quickest way to do this uh besides coming down here is doing a slash pick, right? I killed her in pick zero. I’m going to switch to quick uh to one, right? And then we’ll show the whole run down here. Real quick. I wasted my time killing Bonecracker. So, [laughter] once you have the key, like you’re good to go. You can get out of the thing. You can just jump out of all the cages at that point. Uh but, once you once you have that kill in zero, just pick to one, pick to two, pick to three, pick to four. Killer in all of those, you can also spawn up your own instance and go killer there. She’s going to spawn probably every 6 minutes. So, you can calculate, you know, how long it’s going to take you to to complete it, right? Uh let’s see here. Am I running the right way? Yeah, it points me the wrong way. That’s fun. All right, let’s run through here as fast as possible, right? Uh so, you can just kind of see this in action. Now, if we get attacked by anything, we can kill it. It’s not going to be a big deal. Uh this character is level 29, so um it’s not the highest character, but it’s high enough to be able to just run through here and not have to worry about any of these mobs uh that we’re fighting. So, uh going to go down here and then we’re going to take a turn here. Stuck on the wall like this. Now, I think you can fall down one of these traps. Um I’m not 100% sure which one it is, but uh it’ll take you It’s going to take you to the same spot. Did I take a wrong turn? I did take a wrong turn. That’s why you got to look at the map. Uh the paladin pet, you know, he he’s pretty much been able to solo most of this stuff, yeah. So, this ogre is attacking me now. The cool thing is is these ogres don’t have any negative faction. So, you um you can kill them and they will count for your slayers uh also, so definitely something bonus there. But, if we come over here, this one right here, uh I don’t have the key in my hand cuz it’s annoying. And we just walk in here and uh Shwaiker real quick. Now, she’s an enchanter. Um she might charm you uh depending on uh your abilities, right? But, there you go. And if you do it at 29, she’s a level 25, so it’s not too bad. There we go. We got another 47. Putting us at indifferent to them, right? We’re 81 points away, so two more kills and we would theoretically get the faction we need. But, there we go. That’s That’s just how you do it. I’m going to sit here kill it a few more times uh and go jeez. Um but, that is how you get the dead faction in EverQuest Legends and probably in EverQuest. Um but, you know, your miles will vary if you want to actually do that in EverQuest. It’s more important here in Legends. But, thank you very much for watching and please have a fantastic day.
