The producer's letter that laid out the in-game shop, read line by line with prices attached. My conclusion is that almost everything on the list is a no-op you can earn in game, that storage and loadout slots are the only things I will actually buy, and that the AA potion is the one item I wish did not exist. I also stop to disclose the creator program before giving the verdict.

Producer's letter Marketplace Pricing Commentary
CurrencyIrridium, 500 for 4.99 USD
Race unlock1,000, about 10 USD
Class unlockThe dearest item on the list
Loadout slots at launch3, up from 2, was 16 in private beta
Base cost20 USD plus 10 a month, no collector's edition

The Frame I set First

Cost, before anyone reacts to a number.

  • I ask viewers to think about what it costs to run this, before scrolling to the price list.
  • I believe the Legends team is larger than the EverQuest and EverQuest II teams put together.
  • Expensive to build, expensive to operate, and I expect them to need more hires still to get Kunark out by December.
  • I ask for calm comments up front, and repeat it at the end. Not because I agree with everything, but because I do not want the thread to be about Daybreak's history.

On the date: the video title says June 8, but I open by calling it the July 8th letter and say it landed the day before. The video went up on July 10, so the month in the title looks like a slip.

Unlocks Are Earnable, So I Call Them No-Ops

The largest prices on the list, and the ones I care least about.

  • An Untapped Potential achievement covers race, class and deity unlocks through gameplay. Race and class are already in game; deity follows shortly after launch.
  • Reaching 50 on any class the first time grants a class unlock token plus a batch of storage, as a one-time general achievement.
  • I unlocked Iksar by going AFK for about 25 minutes making metal bits, which is the anecdote that makes my case. It has been nerfed since, and it is still not hard.
  • Some unlocks are almost jokes. One race is handing someone wine, another is muffins, and the agnostic deity unlock is killing two raid bosses.
  • Plane of Sky is being changed to drop for the classes you bring, so targeting what you want gets easier rather than harder.
  • Buy them only if you are impatient, which I say without judgement. It is not your money.

Storage Is Where the Money Is

And I am specific about which kind.

  • Equipment slots are the real product. I auto-merges every item I loot the moment I get it, so that is where my pressure lands.
  • Tradeskill depot slots are close to worthless to me. I reckon under 200 items are worth depositing, classic simply does not have enough components, and crafting is not changing from the beta.
  • Activated item slots are a no-op too. Journeyman's Boots, an Amulet of Necropotence, shrink shoulders, and then I run out of examples. You can also pull the exaltation off and put it on gear you actually wear.
  • Dragon Hoard is where quest items go, in my view, not where you store gear.
  • The private beta had 50 of each and the pre-order beta halved it to 25. The level 50 achievement is what puts that back.
  • I am fine with storage being monetised. Years on live taught me to expect it, and I never hit a wall until Plane of Sky quest items, which have since become currency anyway.

Each storage increase is 500. I work out that around 100 dollars maxes a character's equipment slots, which I consider the one purchase worth making.

Loadout Slots Are the Real Concern

The one line in the letter that lands on me personally.

  • Sixteen in private beta, two in the pre-order beta, three at launch.
  • I will buy them, because I build and rebuild constantly and am, by my own description, lazy about save spell sets and gear sets.
  • Five would be comfortable. Three gets me going and I say so, but I was still limited at 16.
  • I flag myself as non-standard. Making builds for videos is not what a casual player does, and I allow I could be wrong about how much this matters to anyone else.
  • Post-launch earnable slots would soften it, and the letter promises more ways to earn alternate storage through gameplay.

The Prices

As read, and subject to change.

  • Irridium at 4.99 USD for 500, so roughly a thousand to ten dollars, in line with what EverQuest already charges.
  • Deity unlock 500. Race unlock 1,000. Class unlock is the dearest item on the list.
  • Additional loadout 500. Each alternate storage increase 500.
  • Two extra inventory slots for 1,000, which I rate a good deal against live, where the equivalent perk is a monthly charge.
  • A 12 slot bag at 500, and a 50 slot bank bag at 1,000.
  • Name change 1,000, cheaper than the equivalent elsewhere. Item restoration 100.
  • The top currency tier is the only good value. One hundred dollars buys 12,000, about 20 percent more than buying in the smallest increments, and I say the 4.99 tier loses you money.

I asked whether there is a monthly stipend, the way a live subscription grants 500 Daybreak Cash, and had no answer before recording. I think one would make the whole list more palatable.

The AA Potion

The one item I argue against.

  • Five hundred for doubled AA on your next five points. Earn five, get ten, and I say the listing may as well be worded that way.
  • It never expires, which I genuinely prefer to a timed experience potion. A timed potion dies with the group when the tank disappears for twenty minutes.
  • There is no straight experience potion on the list at all, which I flag as a change from what had been expected, while openly unsure whether saying so crosses the NDA.
  • I call it the most controversial thing here and a nothing burger in the same breath. By the private beta I was at 500 or 600 AAs with nothing left I cared to buy.
  • It only helps on a first character, level one to 50, and after two or three characters you have more AAs than uses.
  • I would price it at 250, call 500 overpriced against everything else on the list, and would rather it did not exist.
  • I would rather they fixed the experience rates instead, arguing one of the two nerfs should be undone.

The Disclosure

Made mid-video, unprompted.

  • My copy of the game came through the creator program, which I say I should have mentioned at the start and am mentioning now.
  • I am in the creator program for both EverQuest and EverQuest Legends, and they cover my EverQuest account.
  • I say nobody has told me what to say. I asked the EverQuest team directly whether they wanted any of my videos taken down, including the ones covering another server, and they did not ask for anything.
  • I have direct lines to the developers and pass on feedback I receive, which is why I ask for opinions in the comments rather than just posting my own.

My Verdict

Cheaper than I expected.

  • Nothing on the list is mandatory, with the possible exception of storage if you are pushing the high end with several loadouts.
  • Everything is a permanent upgrade, not a recurring charge, which is the distinction I keep returning to.
  • I had said I would not play if the monetisation was out of line. This is not that, and I am playing.
  • In an ideal world there would be no shop, and I think a shopless version of this game goes out of business inside a year.
  • I expect the video to be downvoted and ask people to like it anyway so the people who disagree can find it.

Why I want It to Work

The part that is not about pricing at all.

  • This is the EverQuest I have been asking for. Being able to play solo on another server is what stopped me wanting to box.
  • I do not want to box on live either, and I am tired of engineering setups that approximate a group.
  • I want to group with people I know, from Discord, not with randoms who take the loot or leave after five minutes. I spent the pre-order beta doing exactly that.
  • What I want from the game long term is low-level achievements that upgrade your character, which I say the main game lacks across its 130 levels.

The Iksar Shaman Bit

My running answer to the whole unlock question.

  • Start as an Iksar Shaman and you need none of it. You already have Cazic Thule, so no deity unlock. You are already the race you want, so no race unlock.
  • Shaman makes every good combination, so no class unlock either.
  • You start in the best city in the game, which is the part I am least willing to argue about.
  • I did exactly this in the pre-order beta, picking shaman rather than being limited by which tanks I could play.

Hello and welcome to the EverQuest Legends producer letter for July 8th, 2026. This got released yesterday. I just got home today and uh we’re going to go through this. Now, I’ve already read this obviously and you know, I know a lot of people are kind of curious in my opinion on some of this stuff. We’re going to talk about it as we go through it. Now, I I want you I want everybody to take a step back and think about how much [\h__\h] costs these days. And you know, it’s like it’s it’s expensive, extremely expensive for them to run this game. It’s extremely expensive for them to pay all the people they have working on this. I’m almost certain that the EverQuest Legends team is larger than probably the EverQuest and EverQuest 2 teams. In all honesty, I feel like that’s probably where it is right now, right? This is going to be an expensive game to make and it’s going to be an expensive game. Uh, now I know everybody’s in a different financial situation where, you know, you know, some people go and buy, you know, coffee, you know, for like 10 bucks a day at Starbucks, right? You know, it’s stuff like that. So, everybody has different values for things, right? So, I like, you know, it is what it is. At the end of the day, we’re going to go through this. This is about the marketplace. like this. This video is going to be about the marketplace and uh we’re going to talk about it now. You know, don’t don’t go crazy. Don’t cry. Don’t scream. I I don’t want to see comments that are just terrible, you know? Like I don’t want to see any of that, right? I like I don’t I don’t care about, you know, what what other things have done in the past, you know? It just it is what it is, right? And we’re going to go through this and uh talk. So, like be cool. Be cool in the comments. Like I’m just saying, right? I mean, it’s it is what it is. I mean, you don’t have a phone. [laughter] I’m just kidding. All right. Hell notheians. The EverQuest Legends development team is moving incredibly fast and working very hard to get the game ready for launch. As we get closer, we want to share more information about how the game will work and what will be included in the base game versus what is offered in the in-game shop. Though those details uh follow and we will continue to keep you updated. All right. Race, class, deity unlocks. There will be an untapped potential achievement for all races. Classes, deity unlocks, which can be earned through game play. Race and class unlocks are already in game. A class unlock token will be awarded to the first time you reach a level 50 uh a class to level 50. See below. D achievements and unlocked will be implemented shortly after launch. All right. So, right off the bat, right off the bat, these things are going to be in the shop, but they’re already in game, so we can unlock them. So, to me, this is a this is a zero out, right? This is a zero out, right? I I can go and get them in game. I I was able to unlock whatever race I wanted in like like minutes. I literally I literally went AFK for like 25 minutes while making metal bits and I unlocked XR, right? It’s a little harder now because they nerfed nerfed it after people are getting it done so fast. But the thing this still the thing is is you can get these all in game, right? So when we get to that part, don’t don’t don’t even complain cuz it’s a it’s a noop, right? If somebody wants to pay, you know, 10 20 $30 to unlock ogre, it’s all on them to do whatever they want to do with their money, right? It’s not your money, it’s their money. So, let’s just let’s just keep that in mind. Level 50 achievement and alternate storage. There is also a general achievement for reaching level 50 for the first time on any class. This is a one-time achievement that will grant a class unlock token and the following additional storage 50 uh trade skill slots. Right? So, let’s talk about trade skill slots before we go any further. Right. In So, this is trade skill depot. If you’ve uh if you played normal EverQuest, there’s a trade skill depot and all trade skill items go into the depot and you can use them from any crafting bench in the game, right? Uh Elder Scrolls Online has this feature where it’s a crafting bag and it’s you cannot play the game without paying this monthly subscription to be able to get to it because there’s so many crafting materials. Now, I can safely say I can safely say there is probably less than 200 items you will actually probably want to put in your trade skill depot. Um, you could obviously probably put more than that in there, but you’re probably not going to there’s there’s no need to. There’s not enough trade skill items in classic to even warrant it. They’ve already said that they’re not going to change crafting from what it is already in the betas. So, it it’s no issue to me. Dragon Horde. Now, from what I understand, they lowered when uh they went from the private beta to the pre-order beta, all the equipment slots got cut in half. Right? So, instead of having 50 equipment slots, I had 25. Right? So, what this this achievement does is brings all those back to where you were in the private beta. if I’m not mistaken, except for trade skill depot. That was like 5,000 because of some weirdass [laughter] weird ass thing. But I’m okay. I’m like, like literally I couldn’t fill 5,000 trade scale items unless you really really went out of your way to try to like find find stuff that wasn’t even error in classic. In all honesty, I have 1,500 7 maybe 2,000 slots on EverQuest Live and I’m I like I still have room for new stuff, right? Like it’s it’s not a big deal. Dragon Horde up to 25. Okay, so that’s pretty nice. So, Dragon Horde, I don’t know what it is in game, right? Like I truly don’t know. I didn’t even look. I like to me dragon horde is not where I’m putting items. Like like I’m going to explain this here in a minute. activated item slots. Uh there’s what? J boots, amulet of necropotins, the shrink shoulders, and uh that’s it. [laughter] What else? What else are you going to [\h__\h] put in there? There’s not much right now. Now, I think there’s going to be cosmetic clicky illusions and [\h__\h] that will you can put in there. So, that’s a thing. Uh, but you know, as you get those, you can also take you can take the exultation off those and put it on the gear you’re actually using. So, you don’t even have to use the activated item slots. So, I mean, again, it’s it’s like a no op to me. Right now, this is this is the most important one to me right here. I do not plan on using bank space. I don’t plan on using dragon store horde. Right? Those are those are inconvenient to me. equipment slots is where it’s at. Now, why is equipment slots where it’s at? Because when I’m in my on my character in the game and I get a new item, I can merge it right there. Instantaneously merges it with a thing. I the way I play this game is I automerge every single item. I don’t care about like putting, you know, five or six things in there unless it’s something I’m really trying to upgrade, right? Like I I just do it. I just upgrade it or I auto sell it to the vendor, right? So again, not a big thing. Uh these this is where they’re going to make their money. I’m going to tell you right now, this is going to be the money maker. Equipment slot slots. So we don’t know how much they cost yet. I’m trying not to show that. But when we get down there, we’ll talk about it. Um you know, doing that. Now, exultation slots, like in private beta, I think I had like 10 things in here, and that was just because I was being lazy and keeping things that I probably didn’t even need anymore, right? Um, definitely not a big deal, right? like going from private beta having 50 of all these to going to 25 uh felt, you know, felt pretty bad because it’s a different thing and you don’t know why, you know, but obviously the game was never going to launch with 5,000 trade skill depot slots because there was there would be no way for them to monetize it at that point because there would not ever be 5,000 crafting g items in the game that you could put in the the Detroit skill depot from every single expansion from one to 30. I I truly do not think there is 5,000 individual trade skill components to put in there. So I it always to me having played live for the last like five, six, seven years, whatever it is, I’ve I’ve I realized that there, you know, there was going to be monetization on the storage, right? That is something I realized pretty early into this and something, you know, I’ve I’m used to it and it’s optional because you don’t even have to do it with these numbers here. Uh I went all the way through private beta without having to deal with any kind of storage issues until I got to Plane of Sky and I was having to deal with a lot of quest items, but they they’ve they made half the quest items into currency, so I mean it’s not even a big deal at this point. Uh there’s other, you know, the dragon horde is more or less where you throw in throw in quest items in my opinion, not where you put items. Uh but you know, there’s uh you know, different and we’ll be adding additional ways to earn alternate storage through game play post launch. So if there’s achievements I can do post launch, you know, getting hunter of uh such and such zone and I get 25 equipment slots, you know, I’m fine. That’s that’s fine. Uh, please note that we’ll also continue to make adjustments to the game to make it easier to manage your inventory. These changes made include um include alternate storage for items such as plane of sky quest runes such as that. So So those that’s just was saying what they’re they already did. Now this one here is is the is the kicker. Uh this one to me is the the more concerning one. Uh, so currently in the private beta you have or the public beta you have two loadout slots. In the previous private beta you had 16. Now to me as someone who is making builds and doing stuff over and over again and changing things out and who is incredibly lazy and I know some people are going to be like, “Oh, you don’t have to buy anything. You can uh switch out that load out and change your things.” But then you have like, you know, save spell sets, save gear sets, blah blah blah, right? Uh if you’re lazy like me, you’re going to be buying loadout slots. That’s going to be where it’s going to be. Now, they’ve increased it from two to three for launch, right? And I believe there is ways to learn, you know, earn additional ones through gameplay, right? It’s going to be post-launch, but uh there’s going to be additional ways, right? So that to me that is that is fine, right? Like I think three for me is going to get me uh you know get me going, right? Uh I should be fine there. Now let’s talk about the currency price. I’m trying to Let’s just do it like this. All right. So the in in-game currency is called Aridium and it’s $4.99 for 50 or 500 nine. And uh you know so it’s like pretty much a,000’s 10 bucks. Like let’s just let’s just call it where it is. Once you pay tax on this you’re you’re so 100 bucks you get 12,000 you get a little bit bonus if you will. 50 bucks you get you know 60 thou almost 60,000 uh 60 5700. All right. So the prices are about the same as uh as the EverQuest prices. Right. This is what we’ve all, you know, if you played EverQuest, this is about what it is. I I don’t think it’s different. Uh I’d have to look and see, but for the most part, it is. So, let’s talk about how much things cost. All right. So I I when I talk about in in-game currency and things that are what I consider like I to me I hate in-game purchases if they’re any way required to do right now for utility things like storage and stuff like that I’m a little bit more flexible but if it’s if I have to buy amount that I can’t earn in game that pisses me off right so I’m like you It is what it is and anything that gives power is pay to win, right? And almost every single MMO on the market is pay to win in my opinion. So don’t get me wrong. Um, all right. So pricing is subject to change, right? So DD unlock 500 token race unlock a,000. So that’s 10 bucks per race and $15 per class. Now, if we set up here, these are all unlockable via in-game stuff. Now, you can unlock So, what they’re doing is they’re making it so when you do play in a sky, uh the classes you’re playing with, you’re going to get the items for them when you’re doing the quests and playing a sky. So, to me, this is these are no ops. These are right here. No ops. There is no reason to ever buy these unless you’re impatient or you’re, you know, you got to, you know, you’re sitting on, you know, $10 million in your bank account, right? I don’t see anybody else really needing these if they’re enjoying the game. So, there’s no reason to even complain about these in my opinion because they’re no ops. they’re like I can go get all these in game right now. Uh I I did ask uh so like I did ask uh if there was a monthly stipen and I did not get a response uh by the time I made this video. Uh so like on EverQuest Live you for you know your monthly subscription you get 500 tokens right 500 day book daybreak cash. Now, I don’t know if that is going to be the same thing in this game, and if it is, every month you would get that, but I I I don’t know. I can’t confirm that. I tried to confirm it before making this video, and I did not get a response. But $5. I mean, lit literally, I just went, “Okay, I just I just took my kids my kids and my wife to the beach and I bought like my kid goes down to the little uh little beach bar, right? and he gets himself a dari if you will, which is like, you know, a virgin daiquiri. And uh, you know, I’m paying like 10 bucks a pop for these these damn things. So, 500, you know, tokens, $4.99 or, you know, less if you buy more, right? Like, let’s just do it at the the one to one value here. Um, like it’s not a big deal. additional load out. You know, obviously every build I do, I’m going to have to make, you know, like every video I’m going to have to make $4.99 a video to be able to pay for the load out for another thing, right? Like that’s how I’m looking at it for me because I reinvest all my money that I make from videos back into, you know, paying for accounts and stuff like that. So, to me, it’s it’s it’s a no. It’s it’s unfortunate. I wish there was more than three. I think five would be a number that would be a little bit more comfortable with me. But, you know, uh if there’s a ways to earn, you know, another, you know, three or four in game, maybe five in game, you know, that’d be kind of sweet to like soften the blow here. But, uh the the prices don’t look like they’re too aggressive to me at this point. Alternate storage increase 500. Uh, so each of these all right so 500 so each of these increments right so 50 trade skill slots 500 dragon skill 500 activated items 500 right there so like right off the bat I’m going to be buying I think I need 400 [laughter] I think it’s 400 to be able to have all the classic items maybe 500 uh to have all the classic items in my storage so I can just immediately have any item I want to pull it out out of my bag and put it on. Right, if I’m not mistaken, maybe it’s a few more. Someone can uh let me know the exact items of stuff there. An additional inventory slot. Now, this one seems like a really good deal. Uh because on live, you’re paying you’re paying monthly. You’re paying monthly for the perk to get two more inventory slots. This 1,0 bucks you’re in. You get two extra inventory slots. I believe there’s four uh from what I saw in a screenshot, four additional inventory slots you can buy uh which can then be filled with bags, right? So, pretty nice there. Now, obviously bags were going to be a thing to sell. That is the what EverQuest sells the most of most likely is bags. And, [sighs and gasps] you know, 12 slot that’s pretty uh pretty reasonable. 24 slot 80, you know, 80 weight reduction. Now, the thing is right now I don’t think they’re I don’t think items actually weigh anything when they’re in your bags. So, I’m not 100% sure how all of this works, but um maybe that’s a bug and they’re going to work on it. But, uh like I I was running around all in beta with like a whole bag full of junk and I never was encumbered at all. So, uh if that’s a bug, I don’t know. But uh you know 500 for a 12 slot bag that’s not bad if it’s like the monthly if you the monthly stipen you get if they do that it’s 500 I mean you get a bag a month I mean it’s not a it’s not terribly that bad. um you know it seems like a reasonable price to make sure that the game is got a healthy flow of income right and this 50 slot zero rate reduction 100 weight bag is a th00and which means it is a bank bag so you can have you know an extra 50 slots in your bank right now that’s not too bad [laughter] I don’t know if I’ll buy any of those but uh definitely not now I’m going to skip this We’re going to come back to that one. Uh name change potion a,000 which it’s like a service. I think WoW charge or WOW charges like $25. I think uh EverQuest is like 1,500 for a name change if I recall right cuz I think it was cheaper for me to move a character or something move a character than it was to rename two characters if I if I recall right. Um a token relocation. So, you delete something, you can recover it for 100 IR, right? Not too bad. Uh, so then we have various cosmetics that they have not shown yet. Obviously, they’ll be shown at some point in time. Uh, but it is. Now, this one right here is an interesting one. Now, I I don’t know if I’m I don’t know if I’m violating the NDA by saying what I’m about to say. Uh but by the ex by what is shown here, there is no experience potion on this list. And as far as we knew before, experience potions were going to be one of the things they’re going to sell. Now, from what I understand, they are not selling an experience potion. They’re selling gonna sell this AA experience potion which will double your AA points for the next five AAS. So for 500 IR the next five AAS you get you get two, right? So uh and it lasts forever. So no matter how long it takes you, which to me then does not expire is is like is is nice, right? Cuz like if you if you’ve ever used an experience potion on live, you know, [\h__\h] happens and you don’t get experience for like 20 minutes sometimes and you you’re wasting time, right? You you join a group, you got an experience potion going, you’re like, “Hell yeah.” And then the tank’s like, “Got to take a [\h__\h] I’ll be right back.” And then he never comes back. You wasted an hour of your time. You don’t know why. In [clears throat] all honesty, you decided to join that group instead of just loading up a box and playing a box, right? Yeah. That’s why I box six. Uh or I used to box six. That’s literally like you know how it goes. Now this one here is the most controversial item on this entire list to me. Um it is also a it is also a nothing burger. Um I I I just don’t feel like it’s I would never spend 500 on this personally. I just like this is for someone who is wanting to get the get that little inch above, right? They you know they have they they have a small wang in real life and they want to get that little extra bit to you know get a little bit further than anybody else. That is the only reason this thing would exist. There is there is probably I think 700 maybe,000 AAS that you’re going to like you’re going to spend if you max everything out, right? For all classes. Uh I was at like 500 600 AAS in the private beta and I was like out of things that I even care to spend points on, right? I was just, you know, like I could buy like 10 or two [\h__\h] stats, you know, like two strength, you know, I could buy that crap, but you know, like who cares, right? Like at the end of the day, who cares? Uh, it just it is what it is. Now, this one is the most controversial and anybody says, you know, it isn’t it it’s probably, you know, not thinking right, but that one is the most controversial. I you know I would I would probably better not to see it honestly or because it just it’s just not really something needed. All right. I feel like the experience rates in the game are a little too low and those should be lifted up a little bit. I know they they did like a double nerf and they need to I think undo one of the nerfs to bring it up a little bit. Uh but you know this is 100% unnecessary. Uh, and I think the price could probably be 250 IR for what it is, right? I think 500 is a little overpriced on that one compared to everything else on this list. Uh, but, you know, I I have my own opinions. Everybody else has their own opinions. I’m sure, you know, the existence of this is going to piss off people altogether. Now, I you know, I’ve said a few times that, you know, if this is totally whack, I you know, monetization, I’m not going to play the game. And I don’t feel like this is totally whack itemization. Um, this is about on par with what I was expecting. It’s actually cheaper than what I was expecting in some cases. Uh, but all of these, the most expensive item on here, uh, the class unlock is a total noop, right? Unless you really really want to start as a, uh, you know, XR paladin day one. Uh, there’s no reason to buy this, right? There’s absolutely no reason to buy it. And if you’re going to start as an XR paladin, you can always switch the order of your goddamn classes and, you know, be like a shaman like I did. That’s what I did on the the pre-order beta. Instead of being limited by what tanks I could play, I just picked shaman, the best class in the game by far in the best race in the game, exar by far. I mean, you don’t need you don’t need a deity unlock when you already have Kazakth. You don’t need a race unlock when you’re already Pixar. You don’t need a class unlock if you’re already shamming. I don’t know why there’s even a choice. They should just start you in the game with those. I mean, that is all that you really need. You start in the best city in the game. You start with everything. You are the best combo starter in the game as an Exxar Shaman. >> [gasps] >> I just you know I could go on and on but praise thool that the XR are the greatest but uh you know that’s how it is. So that’s that’s the producers letter right like this is this is a lot of information. I know some people are going to you know nope out of the game now and you know you have that right. I’m not going to criticize you at all. I’m not you know I don’t I just don’t like people whining about it constantly. That’s kind of like I’ve seen a lot of people whining about it on the Discord and stuff like that. Uh, and it’s just like, you know what, if you don’t like it, don’t play the game. Honestly, it’s your money, your choice to do what you want with it, right? Like, I just I don’t see any of this stuff mandatory at all. I don’t see it mandatory at all in all honesty, especially if there’s ways to earn this [\h__\h] in the game. Uh, like they’re saying that they’re going to add, right? Um, these are like I these are these are no ops, right? These not the load out one, right? These are no ops. Loadouts are going to be valuable. Uh, the increased for the equipment slots is going to be valuable to me, right? I’ll probably max out my uh inventory slots in I don’t know if I’m going to buy uh [laughter] what is that 12 uh 12 12 slot bags or whatever you know that is. I don’t know if I’m going to do that cuz dragon bags are like, you know, pretty cool, pretty easy to get, right? So, like those are 10 slots. So, you can buy tinkerer bags. Uh, you know, like I I didn’t feel I never felt starred for inventory slots as much as like dragon or things like that or equipment storage is really where the pressure started going on to the other slots. So, you know, it is what you know, everybody plays different, right? I I play for pretty lazy. So, the only controversial item I see is the AA potion. And it’s it’s almost like a joke just put here to mess with people because it’s it’s terrible, right? Double A points for the next five AA. So, it’s it should just say 10 A like you know you know earn five AAS get 10, you know, like that’s really what it is. That’s all it is. And to me, that’s, you know, that’s going to help you. Like the only time I would pop this is if I was day one making a new character, right? That’s the only time I would ever pop one of these probably cuz after the first two or three characters, you have enough AAS to like do whatever you want with, right? Uh but this would this would benefit the most from level one to 50 on your first character because you you know you pop it you get your you know five AAs like before level 10. So you’re then you have 10 AAS and you pop it again and pop it again and pop it again right you just become a AA potion addict and you’re just you know living on the streets you know I don’t know I don’t think these I don’t think this monetization is that bad. Um, I think it’s actually cheaper than I thought and it’s not going to stop me from playing the game at this point. You know, there some of it says all these prices are like subject to change, right? So, [gasps] the only thing that would be nice is if the prices went down on some of these things, right? Like that would make it a little bit more palatable for some people. I know I did see somebody complain that uh where is it at? Like they they were saying that like everything was like 450, but I’m not really seeing that. Like they were saying some weird [\h__\h] Like maybe these already changed since I saw it, but like if I buy $4.99 like like this is this is where they get you, right? Uh this is the best value right here. no matter what. Going big dick on the first the first the first buy is is where you go cuz you’re getting 12,000, right? Buying like like let’s take Pokemon Go, right? My wife plays this and she’s always like out of bag space because like you go spin the little [\h__\h] things and then it’s like, “Oh no, you’re out of bag space. You can’t spin the spinny.” And she’s like ah frantically trying to delete stuff. I’m like, just big dick it and buy yourself like, you know, 20 bag slots or whatever the hell you need so you, you know, be done with it. You don’t have to deal with the the drama that is, you know, sorting your bags all the time. Uh, but, you know, if you buy the $4.99 version, you’re losing money. In all honesty, the $99 version is where it’s at. There’s no collector’s edition of this. The game is $20 and you’re paying $10 a month. I mean, uh, hopefully there’s a stipen. uh you know that goes into it and you get you know some kind of a bit you know bits per month that you can you know throw towards stuff I think that’ll make things a little bit more palatable for people personally but if you’re going to buy if you’re going to buy tokens this is your best deal because you’re going to get 20% more than if you bought them one by one right and so let’s look at this right so alternate storage 500s everything’s everything’s 500 everything rounds out perfectly fine I don’t see where anybody was complaining about that unless there’s something I’m totally missing here. But I mean, for 100 bucks, you pretty much maxed your character’s equipment slots out. That’s that’s the most important thing. I mean, it is what it is. Everybody has different values to what they’re going to put into stuff, you know, and like I I should fully disclaim that if I haven’t done that, like I my my copy of the game was paid for by Game John. It was given to me as a part of the creators program. Um, you know, probably should have said that at the beginning of the video, but uh I’m saying it now in true uh true honesty form, right? I you know, like I don’t know. I don’t know if they’re paying for my monthly subscription uh or I’m paying for it for this, you know, for my account. I don’t know that yet. I don’t know. [laughter] I I didn’t put a credit card in, so maybe I only have one month of uh of time, but uh it wouldn’t change anything if I was if they didn’t pay for my thing. I would still be interested in this game. And uh you know, it’s just feels it doesn’t feel too bad to me compared to what uh you know, I was getting a lot of messages about, right? Like I it seems like everything’s a one to one, right? Like $4.99. Everything’s $4.99. $4.99. 9.99 9.98. I don’t know. Or that one’s okay. Uh this one is uh let’s say 15 bucks, right? Like that’s all. You just got to look at it like that. It’s five bucks, 10 bucks, 15 bucks, five bucks. You know, it’s obviously these are all permanent upgrades. You don’t have to pay monthly for them. So, it’s not too bad except for the AA potion, which that you don’t have like 10 bucks for a name change. [laughter] just name your character right the first time. I say that, but I I use name changes all the time. I mean, it’s just it is what it is. I just I almost every single thing here seems 100% optional, right? I’ve I’ve said every way you can get these, you know, in game. You know, the the storage is like the biggest thing for me, right? Like if as long as there’s ways to get additional, you know, from doing like achievements and stuff, like that’s going to be cool. Like I I that’s what I really want to see. That’s what I don’t like about EverQuest. Uh the game, the other game, the main game, is there’s no like achievements for the low-level stuff. There’s no things that you can go do and earn and upgrade your characters. Now, there’s some mercenary slots you can get and stuff like that, but like it’s cohesively spread across, you know, 130 levels and there’s missing a lot of stuff, right? But, uh, it is what it is. I know people are going to hate. This is the video is probably going to get a ton of down votes, but I I don’t see anything on this list that besides the AA potion. I’m going to call that one out. Uh, that is like, oh my god, that is like highway robbery, right? Like, [laughter] I just don’t see it. I mean, I wish loadouts was more than three and, you know, by maybe by the end of this it’ll be five. You know, maybe they’ll upgrade it to five. I I felt at 16 I was still limited, but at the same time, I’m not I’m a non- standard player in the fact that I went through and I made as many different builds and loadouts as I could just to make videos. And, you know, I’m non-standard, right? I I don’t think a lot of the target audience, the casual players are going to be switching those up as much to be doing different builds and stuff, but I I could be completely wrong. So, let I So, let’s let’s let’s end this, you know, here, right? I want to hear your opinions. I want to know what you’re saying, right? cuz I I do have multiple direct lines to you know interface with the developers and uh talk to them and share feedback that I receive to them right they I’m a part of the creator program I’m still in the private beta discord where they still talk to us [laughter] lo and behold they still talk to us there uh and uh you know I’ve I’m I want this game to succeed seed because this is what I have been asking for for EverQuest for the longest time. Uh, and it came it became really apparent to me when I played the other server and I could play the game solo and ever since then I have I have not really wanted to box. Um, and I don’t want to box on live. I truly don’t. I’m I’m sick of trying to, you know, finagle, you know, different setups to make, you know, make it as equivalent as, you know, being being in a group, right? So I can do things without having to bother, you know, you know, five other people, right? And this game is very very very close to being what I really want to play as a MMO game, right? I don’t want to group with people unless I know them, right? Like I say, I don’t want to group with people, but at the same time, I spent the the pre-order beta grouping with my friends. And that’s what I want to do. I want to group with people I know, people I interact with on Discord. I don’t want to group with, you know, just like total random people that are just going to, you know, snaggle all the loot or, you know, bail after 5 minutes or, you know, just be total uh, you know, scumbags that don’t, you know, there’s somebody you don’t want to group with, right? Like it’s just like that’s just how it is. And to me, this is this isn’t the right direction. Obviously, I would prefer no in-game shop. You know, that ideal world, but I know they won’t be able to afford and they’ll go out of business within within I don’t know, a year. I I feel like they’re going to need to hire more people uh for their company to be successful. They’re going to have to hire, you know, probably a lot more people to get Kunarch out by December, right? Like this is this this game is going to cost a lot of money to build. And you know, obviously all these things are uh you know, easy to do, right? And the co the the the most expensive thing on this entire list is literally a no wobb in my opinion because you can go and do the quests and the qu they’re changing the quest so that if you’re playing a paladin shadow knight warrior you’re going to get paladin shadow knight warrior crap to drop right. So, it makes it almost trivial to target what you want. And you can do sky over and over again until you’re f your eyes are bleeding and you just don’t care anymore. I did it like seven times in a row before they even patched it. It made it easier. I mean, it is it is definitely doable, right? The race unlocks like one of the races you just drop some you drop uh what is it? Wine on a dude and you get the whole race. Uh, you drop muffins on another guy. The agnostic deity unlock is killing two raid bosses. I mean, this is this this these aren’t even necessary. Plus, if you start as an ixar shaman, you don’t need to do a DD unlock cuz you already have Kazakh praise thool and you already have the best race in the game and you’re already a shaman. So you don’t even have to bother unlocking other classes because you can make all the best combos with a shaman. So let me know your opinion and be kind, right? Like I don’t I don’t want to hear blah blah blah daybreak blah blah blah. I don’t want to hear any of that stuff cuz I just don’t care. Obviously I am uh [laughter] I am I’m in the creator program for EverQuest. I’m in the creator program for EverQuest Legends. Uh, you know, I don’t say, you know, a lot of things that are negative, and that’s not because they told me not to say anything negative. Honestly, they’ve never told me. I asked uh I asked the EverQuest team if they wanted me to remove any of my videos from from my channel, you know, that they might not like, which included the other server. They did not tell me to remove anything. They did not suggest I remove anything. So, like, I’m I’m 100% honest when I’m talking about this. like [laughter] this is this is you know this is I’m being me. I’m not I’m not paid. I don’t get money. I didn’t get the game for free. Uh but uh they do pay for my EverQuest one account. So [laughter] uh I’ll tell you that. But I I mean I think I already paid it for the year. I don’t know if I got a refund on that. So I I don’t know how that works. But that’s how it is. So leave your comments. I’ll I read everything. I try to reply to every single comment I get. If I haven’t replied to your comment, it’s because YouTube doesn’t show me it on my phone when I read my comments. Uh and I’ll get to it eventually. Um and stuff like that. And I’ll go through uh you know, questions and stuff, you know, and all that. I try to answer every comment as best I can. If you want to talk to me one-on-one, you join my Discord and you know, pop a message in Discord. You can talk to me there. You know, I I’m talking to like seven different people right now in uh in private messages and Discord from all different parts of the community, right? Like people that are, you know, mad about monetization, people that are okay with monetization. Like, I’ve been getting messages all the time. And, you know, I I feel there’s a lot of different views and there’s a lot of emotion around this stuff. And to me, this is this is a no burger because it’s like almost every single one of these things is you don’t need to buy. Uh except for maybe extra storage space. And that’s if you’re, you know, peaking high-end at the end the like the very end of the spectrum because 50 equipment slots was perfectly fine for one loadout. It’s perfectly fine for two loadouts depending on what classes you pick, right? as you add more loadouts, you’re going to need more equipment slots to store that gear and stuff like that. But if you do it right, the non-visible stuff doesn’t change. So, you save some slots there. But, all right. So, leave your comments if you like it. Now, if you like my videos, if you tr if you don’t like my video, you should like it. You should like the video so people will see the video that you don’t like. [laughter] And if you do like the video, like it, subscribe, and comment. You know, I love hearing from everybody. I talk to so many people. I get so many nice comments from people. And I I prefer the positiv positive comments than I do the negative comments. And you’ll know if you send a negative comment because you’ll get an emoji [laughter] as the response. And that’s it. But, uh, definitely uh, you know, that’s that. Like if if this is something that’s really, you know, emotional for you, you know, maybe this isn’t the game for you. In all honesty, if you’re enjoying the game, you don’t have to buy any of this stuff. I I do not see a single thing on here that is mandatory. The only thing I would say is pay to win would be this. And even at that point, it’s not really. Now, you can make I keep going, right? You can make the argument that bags are pay to win in normal EverQuest because the more bag space you have, the more money you can make, right? This game lets you sell [\h__\h] from the [\h__\h] trade window. I mean, from the the the loot window. You don’t you don’t even need bags. Like I I ran around with no bags for like 10 levels cuz I couldn’t find a bag merchant. Like that’s how stupid I am, right? Cuz I could just sell it to the vendor. I didn’t have I just needed I just needed nothing. So, you know, it is what it is. So, leave your comments, blast me, praise me, say, you know, say your honest opinion, you know, like I I don’t feel like this is this is out of the ordinary for what this game is. Um, but thank you very much for watching and please have a fantastic day.
