Cazic Thule at difficulty four on Warrior, Cleric and Necromancer, which I did not mean to do. I set up for a two, got a four, and had cleared half of Plane of Fear before noticing. It finishes with 1 percent health and 2 percent mana, and the parser afterwards shows the necromancer and the pet carrying a build whose melee contributes almost nothing.

I Did Not Mean to Do This at Four

Worth knowing before you copy the setup.

  • I set up for difficulty two and the game gave me four. The window said four; I did not read it.
  • I cleared half of Fear before realising, which is its own comment on how the difficulty scales.
  • Locked out anyway, having already killed him four times that week on the bard variation, so the corpse vanished with no loot.
  • I said I would post it either way, win or lose, as a record of the attempt.

Resists Are the Fight

And I turned the filter on so you can see it.

  • He rolled necromancer and berserker this time. The multiclasses are drawn per spawn, so the resist profile below is this pull rather than a fixed property of him.
  • Nothing lands outside over channel. I unfiltered resist messages specifically to show this, and the log makes it obvious.
  • People tell me resists are not a problem in this game. They must be playing pure melee and healing, because that has not been my experience at all.
  • Fire does not land on him. Magic does. That decides which dots are worth a cast.
  • Envenomed Bolt is the whole plan. It lands, and it is the majority of my damage. Without it this fight would be miserable.
  • Even then it gets resisted mid-fight and has to go back up, which at low mana is a real decision.

The Resource Problem

Two classes missing, and you feel both.

  • Endurance drains astronomically without a bard. That is the gap I notice first.
  • Not having the shaman is the bigger mistake. Cleric, necromancer and shaman is a combination that wants to stay together.
  • Promise Renewal costs a variable amount of mana, which I watch swing between roughly 273 and 482 across the fight.
  • So I ration Envenomed Bolt, recasting only as it falls off rather than keeping it rolling.
  • Arcane Mastery for cast speed and mana reduction, over channel only to land things, defensive to survive, balanced to recover.

It was close. I finish on 1 percent health and 2 percent mana, with Divine Aura held in reserve and never used.

What the Parser Shows

Including one number I had to double-check.

  • He has 77,000 hit points at difficulty four. I went back through my own history to confirm it, because the fight felt too easy for a four. Previous kills read 34k, 36k, 54k and 72k, so 77k fits.
  • Envenomed Bolt is the top damage source by a distance.
  • Blood Boil is second, and it is my off-hand proc. A proc placing second overall is not something I expected.
  • My piercing is 12 percent. Cleave does nothing, kicks almost nothing, off-hand slashing nothing.
  • The necromancer is carrying the damage and the cleric is doing almost everything else.
  • The pet is 21 percent, and this is raw slashing with no Puma on it at all.
  • The pet with two Yaks matches my melee. Around 9,000 from the pet against my 3,000 plus 7,000, which is close to level.
  • It also negated life, which I never cast myself, so it was quietly helping the healing too.

Context: this is after the weapon nerf, which is part of why the melee contribution reads so low.

Why I Race Changed to Iksar

From gnome, and I am not subtle about it.

  • Highest AC cap in the game. That is the headline reason.
  • I am completely immune to stuns through the resist AA line, which removes the one thing ogres genuinely offer.
  • So there is no reason to be an ogre, unless you want stamina, and you do not need stamina when you have a full heal every 17 seconds.
  • Praise Cazic Thule, who I then killed.

The Gear Is Basic On Purpose

Which is the point of showing the fight.

  • No Sky items at all. I have tried to get them and have none.
  • Still wearing a charisma earring, which tells you how much optimising went into this.
  • Guk loot and Innoruuk loot, mostly at plus five.
  • No potions, no clicky slow. Too lazy, and it still worked.

Where This Build Runs Out

My own prediction, made on camera.

  • I think I have gone as far as this build goes. I expect the same outcome on everything else.
  • Innoruuk is the exception I expect to lose to, because this build has no slow.
  • The fix would be a right-click slow item, something like a Midnight Mallet, and I am too lazy to go get one.
  • Next up is trying different builds rather than pushing this one further.

How I describe the build: like a paladin and a shadowknight got married and had a baby, except the baby was a warrior, a cleric and a necromancer.

Uh somehow it gave me a four and I’m locked out all of them anyway, so it doesn’t really matter. Uh but yeah, it tells me four here and I’m locked out. I got some like loot from the trash mobs, but that’s it. And I’ve already killed four this week with the bard variation. Um but we’re going to kill Cazic. I’ve already got everything clear. He’s like right up there holding the hammer telling me he’s going to dot me this whole entire time. Uh now this is a necro build. >> [laughter] >> It is uh it is pretty good. I actually cleared half of this zone before I realized it was a four without even realizing it. Uh so we’ll see how this goes. Uh Uh I truly have no idea how well this will do, but regardless if I win or lose, I will post this video as a testament to giving it a shot. Let’s go over channel. Oh yeah, he’s already hitting so hard. Oh man. Did that land? Oh my gosh, that landed. All right. Promise renewal. Uh we’re going to go into arcane mastery and we’re going to try to drop an invulnerable on him. Oh, it landed. He’s he’s cooked. As long as I can stay alive, he’s cooked. All right. Uh All right, that’s going to hit. There we go. And then we’re going to hit do a fire. Fire did not land. Uh magic? Magic landed. All right, perfect. We’re going to heal about 65, I think is where it’s probably need to be healed. There we go, 65 and that should work. We’re in defensive, we’re doing so good there. 5 seconds on promised renewal. I’ll do a life tap just in case. Just in case. Uh and I I turned on resist, so we can uh so like I have it filtered out. So you can see that like nothing lands unless I go into overchannel. Uh so like definitely uh definitely resists are a problem. Like I don’t know, some people say that resists are not a problem, but they must be just like all melee or something and only healing because I have uh I have not had that story happen at all. You can see uh See, this is this is a pretty hard version of uh Kaz’rogal 2, right? Like I’m I’m not I’m just going to do an inventive bolt, I think. Fire worked, magic worked, maybe bonded death. If we can get it. We’re in arcane mastery right now. This is going to give us some faster cast times uh and uh a little bit of mana mana reduction. Hopefully. Oh, 11 seconds. All right. Uh we’re going to probably want a celestial healing. And then dream soul just to be sure here. All right. Let’s turn on recovery. Uh we’re at 36%, so I’m only going to cast an inventive bolt when it goes when it wears off at this point uh to conserve mana. Uh not having the shaman is definitely feeling like the the wrong move here, right? Um I feel like like cleric uh necro shaman just is like a combo that has to be together. And not having that definitely feels bad. And you can see there, I’m already I’m losing endurance without the without the bard that it it rate that is astronomical uh at this point. Uh 3 seconds on that. Once that hits, I’m going to go into balanced. There we go. And we’re going to refresh and venom bolt. Like I cannot go like I cannot use my mana. Let’s go defensive. And we’re just going to like stance dance between defensive and that Oh my god, did I not I thought I hit promise renewal. Oh my gosh. This is cooked. All right, there we go. Promise renewal in 5 seconds. Guess the venom bolt got like resisted. I don’t know what happened there. Yeah, it did. It resisted it. All right, there we go. We landed it. Go back into that one. One, two. Three. Trying to wait as long as I can. There we go. E6. All right, defensive. All right, this is looking good. What is What is he? He’s a necro berserker. Oh my god, am I must be doing Okay, it landed. I was like I must be doing something wrong. Uh like I guess it I have the buffs so far apart, right? And these don’t really ever actually line up to what is going on. All right, let’s redo that. And let’s go on promise renewal. Okay, so we were at 499 mana. I’m going to go defend Oh god, wrong one. Wrong one. Oh my gosh. Okay, good good good good good. We’re on offensive right now, which is not the right stance. We’re going to go defensive. Uh see, Envenom Bolt’s going to wear off, but I’d rather have a promised renewal on myself before I can cast both, I think. What does this cost? This is Oh, this is only 273 mana. Oh, perfect. All right, let’s promise renewal. Still uh Do this 11 seconds. All right. That’s back on. He’s at 30%. All right. That’s going to hit. Perfect. All right, we got 560 mana. Promise renewal cost 482. So, it’s going We need what? What is that? Two uh 273. Oh, and it’s a variable amount of mana. Uh that’s enough. Let’s promise renewal and then do Envenom Bolt. This is about to wear off. Boom. All right. Oh, we need mana. mana Uh Rampage maybe. That’ll give us a little a little boost there. What have we got? 1 second on that. Perfect. All right, Khaz’goroth is at 21%. I want to get 800 mana before I cast uh the next Envenom Bolt. Uh defensive is going low here. Okay. Renewal, balanced, Envenom Bolt. I don’t have enough mana for Envenom Bolt. Can kind of see the dot damage, right? It’s like 1,100 crits and stuff like that. It’s pretty nice. There we go. Perfect. Excellent timing. All right, so we need we need mana. So, let’s go back into defensive. Is it 10% like a rooted or something? All right, 478. That’s a promise renewal. All right. All right, I’m ready to hit DA if I need to. 6% and Oh my god, that was That feels like the longest time in the world when you’re waiting on that DA, right? I mean, not DA, the uh that spell. Now, this is probably This probably just killed me, honestly. I just cast the wrong spell. All right, we We have no mana. We have no promise renewal. Uh we’ll probably have to DA uh if he goes crazy. 470. 47. Come on, come on. One more tick. Should be enough. There we go. Promise renewal. 2% mana, 1% health. 1% health. Oh, wait. What is that? Promise renewal 3 seconds. 2 Oh, we got a body. >> [laughter] >> We We had the body hit the floor. All right, there we go. Um well, we ended with like no resources. But, uh yeah, we still beat him. All right, so that was difficulty four. Uh the corpse disappeared cuz there’s no loot, right? I already I’m already locked out. Uh but uh let’s take a look at this. And bring in the uh parsing. Come on. Bring it over. All right. This pet is mine now. Let me do something. Let me Let me bring this back. Uh, let’s see here. This is a Let’s bring this back like 7 days. It’s going to take a second, but let let let me double-check on the HP. I like It says it’s a four. It feels like it’s a four. Uh, but that was way too easy to be a four, right? 77,000 hit points. So, my last Kaz’rogal So, if we just do search for Kaz’rogal, right? Come all the way down here. Like my last Kaz’rogal. Which uh ironically does not uh sort those. Doesn’t sort them at all, does it? Yeah, it just got all the wands in there and stuff. Everything. I don’t know why Why does that not work? There we go. Kaz’rogal. All right, there’s a 34. There’s a 36. There’s a 54. There’s a 72. All right, so that’s about right. Okay, I just want to make sure 72k was was probably the last one I fought. All right, well, there we go. Uh, we did it. Uh, zoom this in and take a look at the where all our damage came from. And uh this is uh phenomenal. And there we go. All right, so Invulnerable Bolt the majority of our damage. Luckily, this little spell lands on him, otherwise it would be um terrible. Blood Boil, our second highest damage, is my off-hand proc. Off-hand proc. That is insane. That is absolutely insane. Um Yeah. Which is crazy cuz I did I don’t think I landed a fire dot on him. And then dark soul I only cast that like once. Uh my piercing is 12% of my damage which is uh Um which is crazy. I I I go hold on. I got to double check. 77 There’s got to be another Cassic tool. There’s hate. All right, so it should be right before this. 79, all right. So it’s uh it’s about right. Um That’s yeah, I’m I’m just double checking cuz this this felt way too easy for um for being a difficulty four. During the weapon nerf, right? Like the weapons are not even as strong as they were. As you can see, right? I’m like 12% of my damage is almost nothing, right? Like the necro is carrying this character right now. Besides the cleric, I mean the cleric’s doing almost all the work here. But uh cleaves is still doing nothing. Kicks almost doing nothing. Slashes, that’s my offhand doing nothing. Right? Now we Now let’s look at this pet. Now I I like pets have been pretty terrible terrible, but now they’ve got buffed a little while ago. And look at this. 21% of the damage is from the pet. And this is not with the sh- like the shaman build where I put a puma on the pet, right? And he’s just like doing 40% of my damage. This is actually, you know, uh raw slashing damage, right? I mean, the pet is doing more late more melee damage with his two yaks than I’m doing. Yeah. He’s got uh 9,000. I got 3,000 plus 7,000, right? So they’re okay. about equivalent. The pet is doing equivalent damage to me uh with two yaks. I mean, that’s pretty crazy. Uh he didn’t proc very much, but uh that’s sad. Uh and he negated life, which probably helped me out because I did not cast that. So, that would have helped out with some of the the heals, and then he’s bashing, too. So, definitely pretty crazy here. Um uh phenomenal uh phenomenal fun. I Yeah, like I This is This is what’s fun for me. Now, you you’ll notice I am an iksar, right? I race changed from a gnome to the the true master race of this game because they have the highest AC cap. I’m completely immune to all stuns be from uh stun vest will. So, there’s zero there’s zero reason to ever be an ogre unless you want some more like more stamina, but you don’t need it. You don’t need stamina. You got You got a complete heal every uh 17 seconds. So, I like it’s 100% iksar. I know, praise Cazic-Thule. He He died today. Um but what we’re going to do is uh try out some different builds. I feel like I’ve gone as far as I can with this one. I don’t I just I think it’s going to be the exact same situation in every single thing uh except Innoruuk will kick my ass. Like I truly believe Innoruuk will kick my ass cuz I don’t have slow. Uh and without having slow on that one, I need to get like a midnight mallet or something like that so I can right click slow him, but uh I’m too lazy to do all that stuff. Uh I don’t have potions. I don’t have any of that stuff. Too lazy. So, um definitely that’s what it is. My gear is basic. I have not I don’t have any sky items. I’ve tried to get sky items, but I do not have any sky items. They’re all um I still have a charisma earring on. Fear me. Fear me there. I’m I’m wearing Guk loot. I’m wearing Innoruuk loot. I’m wearing just about plus five most things, right? So, it’s it’s this this is a this is a fun build. Uh it’s like a it’s like a paladin and a shadow knight got married and had a baby, and that was a paladin shadow knight.
