Tribute and You
Walkthrough of the EverQuest tribute system. Where to find tribute masters, how to load and activate the five personal tribute slots, guild tribute, house trophies, and how to keep favor topped up by donating outgrown raid gear.
Tribute is the active-buff system EverQuest unlocks around Omens of War / The Serpent's Spine. You load up to five personal tribute lines, hit Activate, and they drain favor every 10 minutes in exchange for heroic stats, AC, HP, focus effects, and melee mods. Favor comes from donating gear at any tribute master. Guild tribute is a separate pool the guild leader manages. Trophies sit in your house and grant passive bonuses while activated. This guide covers all four tabs, where to find tribute masters, what's worth slotting per role, and how to keep favor topped up without burning the bank.
What Tribute Is
Active buffs you toggle on and off.
- System unlock: Available around Omens of War / The Serpent's Spine on live servers.
- Four tabs (alt+U): Personal Tribute, Guild Tribute, Trophies, Guild Trophies.
- Active slots: Five personal tribute effects can be active at once. Pick the five worth paying for.
- Costs favor: Each active line drains favor every 10 minutes. Higher ranks cost more.
- Toggleable: Activate before a fight, deactivate when AFK to stop the drain.
Where to Find Tribute Masters
Three reliable access points.
- Guild halls: Both a personal tribute master and a guild tribute master are stationed there.
- Starting cities: Various starting cities have a personal tribute master. Plane of Knowledge does not.
- Summoned personal tribute master: A clickie from the Special tab summons a level-1 personal tribute master wherever you drop it. Same interface as the stationary NPC. Carries the system anywhere you can stand.
Personal Tribute Slots
What's worth loading and how rank changes the cost.
- Heroic stats: Strength, Dexterity, Stamina, Agility, Intelligence, Wisdom, Charisma. Most classes load the heroic stat that matches their primary role.
- Resists: Magic Resist, Fire, Cold, Disease, Poison, Corruption. Slot when you know an encounter pushes one element.
- Focus lines: Burning Affliction (DoT damage), affliction haste, and others, useful when your gear is missing a focus you'd otherwise be wearing.
- Defensive stats: AC and HP lines for tanks.
- Ranks: Each line has multiple ranks. Higher rank = bigger effect, higher activation cost, higher 10-minute drain. Rank up and down to tune cost.
- Rank ceiling: Most lines scale to level 130; the high-rank values are below current-tier gear but fill gaps.
Activating Tribute
The button after you've picked your five lines.
- Open the tribute UI (alt+U): Shows your active personal tribute, drain rate, and the activate / deactivate button.
- Sample drain: A loaded set in this video drains 352 favor per 10 minutes.
- Effect on toggle: Stats jump immediately on activate. Example: heroic dexterity went from 38 → 44 with the tribute live in the recording.
- Deactivate when AFK: Under Options, enable Auto Off Tribute when AFK.
Earning Favor
How to keep the pool topped up.
- Donate gear at the tribute master: Right-click into the donate slot, see the favor value, hand it in.
- High-tier gear pays well: A raid weapon shown in the video lists at ~46,000 favor. Tier-1 cleric raid armor lists at ~37,000.
- Defiant gear pays modestly: ~64 favor on a defiant spear, fine for incremental top-ups, not the main income line.
- Use old raid gear you no longer wear: The cleanest source. As you outgrow a tier, dump the lower set into tribute.
- Reference favor pool in the video: 2.4M, built up by donating outgrown raid loot over time, not by farming.
Guild Tribute
Same idea, separate pool, leader-managed.
- Who can change it: Guild leader and officers, not regular members.
- Separate favor pool: Funded by donations from guild members.
- Effect example: The guild tribute line shown grants +700 HP, mana, and endurance when active.
- When to use it: Raids, guild tribute usually stays off during normal play and toggles on for raid windows to control the drain.
- Solo guilds: If you run a one-person or small guild, this is yours to manage too. Cheese resist or focus lines you can't otherwise stack.
Trophies
House-placed items with passive bonuses while activated.
- Where they live: Placed in your house. Activate from the inventory tab while inside.
- Old-school sources: Quest rewards from expansion lines. The House of Thule grants a lot of trophies through its quests.
- Modern sources: Expansion collection achievements. Shattering of Ro's Storm Chaser collection awards the Brazier of Magic trophy, +115 to all heroic stats and +250 spell damage / healing.
- Trade skill trophies: Each trade skill has its own trophy. While active, the matching skill cap raises from 300 to 345.
- Persona caveat: Trophies settings are persona specific, so you must set them for each persona.
Activate flow: Shift+I inside the house → Items → Trophies tab → activate. Stats update live; deactivating reverts.
Recommended Picks by Role
Starting points for the five active slots.
- Tanks: AC, HP, heroic agility, heroic stamina. Add Vengeful Aura when you can fit it.
- Melee DPS: Heroic dexterity, Fury of Combat (flurry chance with two-hand attack), attack-line buffs.
- Casters / healers: Heroic wisdom or intelligence, focus lines you don't already have on gear, mana regen lines.
Reality Check
What tribute actually buys you.
- Magnitude: Modest. The level-130 HP line gives ~650 extra HP, a rounding error against a 100,000-point hit.
- Where it matters: AC lines (~85 extra AC at top rank), heroic stat lines (+26 heroic), and focus lines that fill gaps in gear.
- The honest summary: A small lift. Worth running for the gear-gap fills and the heroic stats; don't expect tribute to carry an undergeared character.
Quick Steps Cheat Sheet
- Find a tribute master: Guild hall, your starting city (not PoK), or summon the level-1 personal master from the Special tab.
- Pick your five personal lines: Heroic stat for your role + AC/HP for tanks + any focus your gear is missing.
- Set ranks to taste: Higher rank = bigger effect + bigger 10-minute drain. Down-rank if a line is bleeding favor.
- Hit alt+U → Activate: Stats jump immediately. Deactivate when AFK to stop the drain.
- Top up favor: Donate outgrown raid gear at the tribute master. High-tier raid items pay 30k–50k favor each.
- Guild tribute: Officer/leader only. Toggle on for raids, off for downtime.
- Trophies: Place in your house. Activate via Shift+I → Items → Trophies. Hunt collection completions for the modern high-power options.

Hello and welcome to tribute and you. So today we’re going to talk about tribute. What is tribute? How to do it? How to use it? And all of that. Uh we’re here on one of my characters, Gnome Regard, uh who is level 75 at the moment of this version of him. Uh but we’re going to talk about tribute. Now the best way to get access to tribute is multiple ways. Uh Uh the personal tribute master and the guild tribute master uh can be found in your guild halls and you can find some tribute masters for the personal tribute in various starting cities. There is not one in plane of knowledge. So there is that. And then you can also, if you go to the special tab, you can summon a personal tribute one. Uh I believe like level one, right? So it’s pretty early. Uh if we throw this right here and I just summon him like right here, it should summon me a little gnome right here and I can click her and it’s the same same interface we’re going to be looking at here on the personal tribute guy right here. So >> [music] >> easy ways. This is on live. I think this becomes available around uh Omens of Omens of War or TSS. So Uh now what is tribute? Tribute are little buffs that you can add to your character that are active. If you hit alt U, >> [music] >> uh you can see your current benefits from tribute, right? So uh I’ll go through I’ll go through all these here in just a second, but you get four tabs of different tribute. You have your guild tab, uh guild trophies and your trophies. Now to do the trophies, you have to place them in a house. Uh and you’ll see this character does not have any. Uh we’ll go find my house here in a moment and I’ll try to do that. But let’s go for the standard tribute, the personal tribute, right? So you get a whole long list of things right here to select from. And you know, Gnome Regard here is a shadow knight. So I’m set for the tankish stuff. Uh so I have AC and you can see I can upgrade it, right? Can upgrade it rank. So I get 35 AC when I activate this. I can also downgrade it. Uh upgrading and downgrading changes the cost and the active cost, right? Now you’ll see that I have What is that? 2.4 2.4 million? Yeah, I have 2.4 million current favor. Uh so that is the currency for this little system here. But if we go through like all these things and stuff, you can see there’s different like focus benefits and stuff like that. You’ll see they go all the way up to 130, right? Uh you know, they’re not as good as like some of the gear you’re going to get out there. Uh but if you you’re missing If you’re missing a you know, one of these focuses, it’s probably worth having. Uh you can get heroic stats. You can see here I do AC, uh magic resist, burning affliction and uh HP in that right now. Now these are not the best. These are definitely nowhere near what I should have. So let’s let’s change these up just to show how this is done. Uh so burning affliction. Now I think we set these when we were pretty low level. So if we look here at our bracer, uh we have no focus. If we look at our our um range is cold base spell. So it looks like we don’t even have a focus for burning affliction at the moment or whatnot. So this old raid gear uh just did not have it. So it’s kind of a nice to have for us, right? Like I’m looking at all these things and I’m not There’s the There’s one. Uh a range one. So we don’t need the range one. We have that one. This one’s dodge and stuff like that. So you can kind of see we This this is an actual hole in our current setup, right? So let’s upgrade that to the next tier. Gives us 20% extra damage on dots. Looking to all the way up to tier six it looks like. Uh and no, tier seven. All right, all 20% all the way up to level 20. So that’s nice there. Uh magic resist, we don’t need this one anymore. So let’s drop that. And we’re going to pick up da da da da ch Uh we don’t want stamina. It’s not here. It’s like dance of the hero. Now we want the dexterity one. Which will give us more heroic dexterity, which that one is. Uh endure. Let’s see. Charisma, strength, right? Strength, fire resist. You know, you can see there’s like a different you know, all the different stats are pretty much represented in this system here. Uh so you can get whatever you really feel like you need to uh be able to uh There it is. Hero’s definit. Let’s go ahead and upgrade that to tier two. That gives us six heroic dexterity. Not a whole lot. Uh so we’re going to keep AC. We’re going to keep this one and this one. Uh we can keep the the HP [music] one. We’ll just go ahead and upgrade that for another 15 there. And then affliction haste. Uh we don’t actually have that that effect yet. So we’re going to keep that on. Uh it’s not the best. Now I’m going to eventually come back and I’m going to pick up vengeful aura when we can you know, we can get that next rank, right? We can’t. We can only have five of these active. And then we’re going to drop So we’re going to drop twin Japan power and suffering. We’re going to get vengeful aura and uh flurry of arms uh or fury of combat. So this is gives us flurries with our two-hand attack, right? All right. So we got all that. We set you know, you can set it however you want. You know, your class picks you know, your heroic stats what you’re going to want. Uh I always take AC on the tanks and whatever else you need at the moment in time, right? So you know, you got to go through, look through them and see. It’s It’s pretty self-explanatory on most of these like most classes are going to take decks. Tanks are going to probably take agility and stamina and so on and so on. You can go through here look at for yourself. Now if we hit alt U again, uh you’ll see the personal tribute, right? And it’s got this activate button right here. So uh it’s going to cost me 352 currency every uh 10 minutes. So we go ahead and activate that. Now that’s active, all my stats have increased by whatever that was. Uh you know, for that. So you can see here I have 44 heroic dexterity. If I deactivate that, it goes down. So to 38. Now where do you get this favor? Where do you get tribute? Uh come over here to the bank. Um we’re going to see if we can find an item. Uh I I I probably threw away a bunch of my stuff already. Uh let’s just look at this, right? I’m not going to tribute this item, but this is a raid weapon. It’s worth 46,000 tribute, right? Um if we look at say this tier tier one cleric armor, uh this is worth 37,000 armor. You can kind of see where I’m getting with this, right? All the high level armor has a high tribute value on it. So all that extra old armor you don’t use anymore, you take over here to this guy and you uh like What is this thing right here? This is Yeah. So you can see that we say we’re going to get 64 currency for that. We can go ahead and donate this defiant spear like so. And then we get our currency and stuff like that. So that’s the full cycle of how you get your stuff, how you set your things and stuff like that. Now guild is another one. Now this This is a little different. I believe I’m the guild leader of this guild. Uh so I’m not the guild leader of this guild. The guild leader and whoever is made officers can decide on these things here. And you can kind of see here this you know, the guild’s only got 40 40,000 favor cuz I didn’t feel like spending uh a lot of points on it cuz I don’t really use it that much. But you know, it has affliction efficiency uh cuz I was trying to cheese it, right? I have to log on a different character to change these out because I’m not the guild leader on this character, right? Uh but you can see here this one gives you know, 700 extra um endurance mana and you know, uh HP. So you if you can turn that one on, you want to turn it on like activate, right? That’s going to burn that, but I should have gained 700 extra HP, right? Uh and if you’re in a real guild, you’re you’re going to probably never touch this unless you’re doing raids and that’s probably going to where it’s going to be, right? Now trophies on the other hand are slightly different. Let’s see if I can get out of here and go out to the uh the neighborhood. Now in the neighborhood here, I should have a house and we can do uh trophies. Now this character doesn’t have any trophies cuz they were like character specific. Uh so my necromancer has trophies, but persona to the shadow knight did not save those trophies. I don’t know exactly how that works. Uh you also get trophies from completing quests inside of expansions like um uh true House of Thule gives you a lot of trophies just for doing all the quests there. Uh the modern way to get trophies is completing the collectibles uh for each expansion. And uh see if we have our zone. >> [laughter] >> I will show you exactly uh that. So if I do a slash achievement once we get through here. Oh my god, it’s like a new progress bar. All right. So now we’re outside. And if we go down here to like uh Shattering the Row, the latest expansion. And we go to general and then we go to uh da da da da Storm Chaser. Yeah. Storm Chaser, you’ll see this brazier of magic. If you inspect that, it becomes a It’s a trophy, right? And And this one gives 115 to all heroic stats along with giving 250 uh spell damage and healing. So, uh you know, doing the collections is definitely worth doing. Now, in one of these houses my tree. I love that house. Uh I think it’s this one. I think this one’s Mine. It’s Mine or Twenty’s. Uh let’s see here. Whose house is this? That’s not Maybe it’s this one over here. Uh you can set trophies in your house, too. That’s how you That’s how you get it. Right? Yeah, this is No Regrets’ house. So, if we should shift I on our house here and in items, right? Like I got a bunch of junk in here. It just keeps going. But if you go to trophies, you can see my real estate trophies. Now, I I’ve mastered all the trade skill stuff. And so, I have all the trade skill trophies in here so that I can uh use them. So, I can upgrade all of these, right? And I’ll show this here. So, now I have access to these trophies, right? Uh by putting them here as as that, uh they become right here, right? So, I can activate the trophies here. Now, it’s like Now, it’ll be like I am holding my blacksmithing hammer. And you you’ll see my uh stats go up, right? Sort my stats, right? So, my tailoring’s at 345, my brewing’s at 345, blacksmith 345. Now, if I deactivate this, they all will go back down to 300. >> [music] >> Right? Because this character does not have the AA abilities to go above uh trade skills. So, kind of nice to have, convenient, you know, kind of nice thing. But that’s how that works. Uh so, that’s trophies in like a nutshell. Uh I don’t I’m not trophies. That’s tribute in a nutshell. I don’t There’s not much else to the system. Uh they’re very uh you know, moderate buffs, as you can see, right? Like the 130, it’s going to, you know, give me an extra 650 points, which is uh practically nothing. It’s a rounding error in a hit that’s, you know, 100,000 points. Uh some of these other ones like the, you know, you’re getting up to 85 extra AC. That’s kind of nice. An extra 26 uh 26 uh heroic, you know, that’s a decent considering that you you might uh you know, be less than a war hawk, right? Uh but it it’s, you know, it’s an extra little inch that you can add to your character to uh get a little bit more ahead. But if you have any uh questions or comments, leave them down below. Did I miss something very important to the tribute system that I should have mentioned? Please leave it down below and I’ll pin your uh comment. Thank you very much for watching and please have a fantastic day.
