Franklin Teek

The hot zone dailies explained properly: where Franklin and Clayton Teek stand, how the once-a-day lockout actually works, and why the level 105 transcendent belt is missing its haste.

A follow up to the 1 to 130 leveling guide, filling in the part that got glossed over. Franklin and Clayton Teek hand out the hot zone dailies and the daily missions, and between them they cover a lot of a levelling character's gear and experience. The genuinely useful clarification is the lockout, which is not what most people assume, and there is a live bug found on camera along the way.

Finding Them

Easy once you know the landmark.

  • Plane of Knowledge, by the guild lobby zone line, just west of the south bank.
  • Orient off the stones: the Plane of Tranquility stone one way and the Crescent Reach and Blightfire Moors stone the other, then head up to the bank.
  • On many servers this is the buff pile, so look for the crowd of parked characters.
  • Franklin hands out hot zone quests. Clayton hands out daily missions. They stand together.

The Lockout, Properly Explained

The bit worth the video.

  • You can do more than one a day. What you cannot do is progress more than one band a day.
  • At level 35 you can take the 30, the 25 and the 20 and complete all of them.
  • What you cannot do is level to 40 and then complete the 40 after already finishing one.
  • The timer is roughly 16 hours, and slash task timer will tell you exactly.
  • Quests start at 20, possibly 16, and run in bands up to 105.

How to Actually Level With Them

The method the leveling guide was pointing at.

  • Take the hot zone quest for your band and go to that zone.
  • Grind there until you reach the next band, rather than completing and leaving.
  • Then take the next one and repeat. 70 sends you to Stone Roof Falls, 75 to The Buried Sea, and 76 unlocks the level 81.
  • The zone rotates daily on server reset, so the same band will send you somewhere else tomorrow.

The Rewards, and One Bug

Free haste, except where it is missing.

  • Each hands over defiant style gear: a non-visible hood, cloak and belt.
  • The belts carry haste, with the Elaborate Commandant's belt at 33%, which is the cheapest haste a levelling character will find.
  • Every class wants a haste item, casters included, since you will still melee to fire weapon procs.
  • The level 105 transcendent belt has no haste at all, checked twice on camera. I call it a bug, and it is worth someone reporting.
  • Transcendent gear is otherwise strong, roughly Rain of Fear level.

The 105 dailies are a recent addition and I had never run one before this video, so that belt may not have had many eyes on it.

Clayton Teek's Missions

Different rewards, different scale.

  • Say adventure time to open his list.
  • They scale from 75 to 130, so the same NPC serves a very wide level range.
  • Rewards run to about 62% of a mercenary AA, plus normal experience, a few hundred platinum, and expansion currency.
  • The currency depends on the mission: marks of valor for The Forsaken content, remnants of tranquility for others.
  • Soloing them is possible but awkward at lower levels. I have done it with Monks and Necromancers among others.

Hello and welcome to another EverQuest guide to fill in some details. So, in my leveling one to 130 guide, I mentioned hot zones and Franklin Teek and Clayton Teek here. I kind of wanted to kind of give a little bit more details. So, to find these guys, you come out here to the uh near the guild lobby zone, right? If you’re in Plane of Knowledge. To kind of orient yourself here, the Plane of Tranquility Stone is right there. Uh the Crescent Reach Blightfire Moors stone is right over there. So, if you come all the way up here to the bank, uh right over here, and then you’ll find the guys right here. They’re pretty obvious. Some servers, this is the lag pile, if you will, uh where you can get buffs and stuff. There’s, you know, a few people. You can see all the weapons from all the people that are just standing around here AFK and stuff like that. But, that’s how you get to this spot, right? I wanted to kind of cover that. Now, if we hail him, in the uh video, uh I don’t think I mentioned the 105 uh daily quests. I think that’s something they added recently, and I’ve actually personally never done one. Uh but, you can see here, you can start getting them at level 20, right? If we click on this, right? You have to be Let’s accept it. Uh [music] you can pick it up between 16, I think, as the lowest thing. And this one will send us to Kaia, right? Uh we can go ahead and remove that one and uh remove uh that one, right? Uh but, the 105 ones include uh what zone is this? Neriad Fourth Gate. So, I’ve never actually been to that zone, so that’s uh something you can go off and do. Now, if we preview the reward for this, this is going to give transcendent uh gear, right? Now, this is better than a lot of gear. I think this is equivalent to the uh the Rain of Fear gear. Um so, it’s it’s pretty good stuff, right? We’re We’re getting what? Uh Where is the haste value on the belt here? Preview. Let me inspect. Uh we’re getting zero haste on the belt. >> [laughter] >> There’s no haste on the belt. That’s so Is it on something else? Preview. Inspect. There we go. Uh it’s not there. Inspect. It’s not there. So, it’s In fact, the belt is probably a downgrade over anything else that you probably want. It does not have haste on it. Uh that has to be a bug. Um so, if somebody wants to tell Daybreak that there is no haste on the 105 >> [music] >> transcendent belt, that is definitely a bug. But, as you can see, talking to the Franklin here will give you any of these zones and you can go off and do them. Typically, you have to Typically, you have to be like 50, you know, like the the one, right? Like so 20 will get you to 20 to only five. Once you hit 26, you can get the 30, right? So, that’s how it goes. You might be able to get these at 16. I don’t know. I’ve never tried. But, I always wait till 20. But, you know, by the time you get over Crescent Reach and you make your way here, uh you can grab this first one and you know, what we saw today was the one to go to uh uh Guk. Now, you can only complete one a day, right? That’s something I didn’t really clarify, right? If I do the level 20, I cannot get the level 25. But, if I’m say level 35, I can grab the 30, the 25, and the 20, and I can do all four of them in a day. I just cannot complete the 40 one after I get to that level to get that. >> [music] >> Uh it’s a weird lockout. I don’t know why they do it that way, but uh you can definitely do more than one a day. You just cannot progress more further than one a day. And once you complete it, you’ll get a {{}slash} task timer Right there, and it’ll tell you how long until you can do your next one. I believe the lockout is about 16 hours. Uh give or take, right? Let me see here. They’re going to tell me. No, it doesn’t say anything, but it’s about 16 hours. Now, Clayton right here next to him is the the daily mission guy, right? So, we talk to him. Uh you say adventure time, and he’s going to pop up uh right here. Royal access, so this is something in the fourth gate. So, let’s say you can get they scale from 75 to 130. Uh so, you can go do that one, or you can do fates of the uh uh fates fate rewards the bold which is a uh the broken mirror one. Now, you can see here you can get uh uh some points. I don’t know what those actually are. Maybe that’s currency. Uh for uh the broken mirror. Yeah, I think that’s currency. So, you can get, you know, 800 points uh of currency. That seems like a lot, honestly. Uh plus that, and you can go in there and do that quest. Now, these the some of these are easy. They scale, you know, 75 to 130, so uh like that. Now, getting them and doing them with a solo character from the the missions, uh you might have a hard time if you are uh lower level, right? Um it’s it’s definitely a challenge to solo some of this stuff. Uh but it is doable. I’ve soloed with monks and necromancers and a few other classes through some of these missions. So, it’s just a matter of how you do it. If you uh see here, I’ll go back to that window. >> [music] >> We look at the preview reward here, right? We’re going to get 62% of a mercenary AA for that one. And 62% of mercenary on that. But, we’re also going to get normal experience just for completing here plus 500 and 46 platinum plus uh what looks to be 220 currency for fourth gate, which I believe if we look real quick just to clarify this. Explorer, I’m going to make sure what expansion this one area fourth gate is going to be called the forsaken. Yeah. So, this is called the forsaken. So, we will get marks of valor from that one. I don’t think I have I don’t think this character has anything. Yeah, this character doesn’t have anything. Uh but, you’ll get marks of valor for that and you’ll get the uh remnants of tranquility for the other ones. So, makes sense. Uh just, you know, it’s a nice little thing to do while you’re leveling. Now, what I mentioned in the video is like you pick up the hot zone quest, right? So, let’s get through level 71, right? It’s going to take us to stone roof falls. Now, my intention in the video is that >> [music] >> you get this quest and you stay here and grind for a little bit. While this quest is is the daily zone, right? So, these will change and I believe in the morning or server reset uh for the you know, what you’ll get, right? You’re going to get the exact same thing every day. Uh you stay there. Uh you do the quest uh and then you just keep grinding there until you get to the next level band, right? So, you go from 70 now we’re going to 75, which is going to take us to the buried sea and you do the same thing. This one wants us to kill drakes or raptors. Go kill those and just sit there and grind uh until you get to the next, you know, rank or so So, when you get from 75 to I believe [music] um 76 will let you get the level 81, I believe. If we click that one, you can see there 76 lets us get the level 81. Uh so, then you can go and do that, right? Now, these are definitely uh definitely something you should be doing, right? They all give gear, right? It’s all some kind of level of defiant gear. It’s the non-visible hood, cloak, and belt, right? Now, as we saw the 105 one, it doesn’t give haste. Uh but here, this one should give haste. Yeah, so the elaborant com- uh commandant’s belt gives 33% haste, right? So, uh it’s a very easy way to get a haste item if you are definitely in need of one. Uh and I recommend all classes um pretty much have a haste item cuz even if you are a caster, you’re probably still going to want to melee just to proc your weapon if it has a proc on it, right? Or if you, you know, grouping with a shaman, you got leopard going on, right? So, there’s a lot of options there. So, there’s some different things there, but this is exactly uh what I was talking about in the thing. Uh just to clarify that for a few people that uh did give me some questions >> [music] >> uh related to uh this. So, you find it right outside uh the guild lobby zone line right here in the uh plane of knowledge. This is on the Uh I believe this is the south, right? Yeah, this is on the uh south south bank, right? So, it’s just uh to the uh what is that? Yeah, west of the south bank, right? Right down here. Uh you find some other things around in this area, too. I think there’s the guild’s trip tutorial guy, uh some beta guys over there, and then some other things like that. Now, there are some hot zone quests from this guy you can do also. Pretty much if you started at level uh 16 or 20 or whatever it is, you can as you [snorts] go through these hot zones, you’ll find certain kinds of enemies that uh change into like bugs and stuff. I kill those and they drop a special item and stuff like that, and you can eventually get whatever this item is that it will do, and then also while you’re going through those, you’ll get a cloak or some kind of item from uh then drops. It’s either a shard or something like that. And that’ll be through the Aiden Silverwing right here. He’ll give you a quest for doing his quest line, too. You get all those in hot zones. So, it’s a nice little thing to do, something to consider as you’re leveling up and whatnot. But, I just wanted to kind of clarify that for anybody who did not know about this and how to get to it. I kind of glossed over it in the 1 to 130 video. But, thank you very much for watching and please have a fantastic day.
