How I Solo My Level 75 Shadowknight
Walkthrough of How I Play My Level 75 Shadowknight Solo. Single button rotation, with extra DPS via non-rotational damage over time. With a nice field test in Gyrospire Beza at the end with parsing information.
The level 75 shadowknight is a self-sustaining solo character. Three dots, two life taps, and a small heal-on-cast nuke ride on a single button rotation. We parse around 1.8k DPS solo against level 80 red con clockworks in Gyrospire Beza and around 3k DPS with the melee DPS mercenary out.
Session Overview
How the SK is wired at 75.
- Role: Self-sustaining solo. Lifetaps and dot ticks cover incoming damage from level-80 reds without a healer.
- Rotation: One key fires the full combat sustain stack, plus pet attack, pet swarm, and merc assist on the same press.
- Pull tool: Terror of Vergalid, instant cast, lets you turn mid-pull to drag the mob to your pulling spot. Also gives the merc something to grab aggro on.
- Off-rotation: The three dots and Challenge for Power land before the rotation starts.
- Scope: Anything used every fight goes in the rotation. Decrepit Skin lives off-rotation, refresh the moment the 40-charge bar runs low.
Spell Lineup
What's memorized and what each slot does.
- Blacktalon Bite: Quick group heal-and-mana-regen nuke. Fast cast, returns mana, the rotation opener.
- Touch of the Wailing Three: Lifetap, ~1,000 damage / ~1,000 healed. Primary sustain tap.
- Rot Root Spear: ~1,200 nuke, fast cast. Filler damage between taps.
- Ignite Blood (level 61): A holdover dot, only 158 damage with focuses, but it's a dot tick stacked on top of the others. Replaceable; kept here because more dots = faster kills.
- Bond of Blacktalon (level 71): 293 damage, heals up to 1,300 over time. Lifetap-over-time, value comes from the heal half, not the damage.
- Blood of the Blacktalon: Pure dot, 370 base damage, hits 400–500 with focuses, 924 on crits.
- Touch of Sever: 1,200-point lifetap, 1,700 health back. Burst-heal slot when health spikes down.
- Terror of Vergalid: Instant-cast pull. Doubles as the merc's aggro hook.
- Challenge for Power: 27-second debuff that increases your AC and feeds 666 hate every 6 seconds for 30 seconds. Later ranks add melee absorb, at 75 it's hate + AC only.
- Decrepit Skin: 40-charge / 6-minute melee absorb. Permanent slot for the rest of the spell line. Refresh whenever the charge counter gets low.
Dot priority: Bond of Blacktalon → Blood of the Blacktalon → Ignite Blood. All three running before the rotation starts swinging.
Dark Lord's Unity AA (75)
One click, the full self-buff stack.
- Shroud of the Nightborn (level 72 shroud): Adds a chance-to-lifetap proc on melee. Doubles the natural lifetap throughput.
- Marrow Thirst Horror: Proc attack that returns healing on the next several attacks.
- Cloak of Corruption: +HP, +AC, and a damage shield.
- Remorseless Demeanor: Buffs the size of the next lifetap after a kill, fires constantly while soloing.
- Dark Bargain: Skeleton form, converts HP into mana. Looks great with the SK epic.
Always-On Self-Buffs
Outside of the AA stack.
- Grim Aura: +attack. Lower priority, sometimes won't stick over external buffs, but worth it when buff-light.
- Banshee Aura: Damage shield, stacks with Cloak of Corruption's DS. Requires a pearl in inventory to cast.
- Mortal Coil (passive): Killshot proc. Fires whenever you land a kill in solo play.
Pet
Shambling minion.
- Shambling Minion: The 75-tier pet. ~55–80 DPS in field-test parses, meaningful chip damage, not a primary DPS source.
- Amplify Death: Pet haste buff. Always cast after summon.
- Tank role: Pet eats some incoming damage but will die against red mobs without merc backup. Plan for resummons.
Rotation
Every cooldown rolls on a single key.
- Blacktalon Bite: Opener. Mana-positive nuke + group heal.
- Rot Root Spear: Filler nuke between taps.
- Touch of the Wailing Three: Sustain lifetap.
- Touch of Sever: Burst lifetap.
- Challenge for Power: Hate + AC tick. Optional in the rotation, run it off-rotation if you want the melee swing windows back.
- Taunt: Fires on cooldown.
- Pet attack / pet swarm / merc assist: Bound on the same key. Spamming the rotation keeps the pet and merc locked onto your target without a separate /assist.
Held back: Chattering Bones (10-minute reuse swarm pets), saved for burn windows, not the rotation. The swarm pets can foul up pulling.
Off-Rotation Setup
Pull, dots, and Challenge for Power before the rotation starts.
- Terror of Vergalid
- Ignite Blood
- Bond of Blacktalon
- Blood of the Blacktalon
- Challenge for Power
- Decrepit Skin
Pull pattern: Pull with Terror of Vergalid → land all three dots → roll into the rotation. The rotation handles the heal-up; the dots handle the damage floor.
Defensives
Stacked layers when something goes wrong.
- Decrepit Skin: 40-charge melee absorb on a 6-minute timer. Refresh on cooldown, the floor of your defensive uptime.
- Soul Carapace: Mini-defensive discipline. Reduces incoming damage. Pop on add or when you take an unexpected spike.
- Challenge for Power: +AC for 27 seconds. Later ranks add absorb, not yet at 75.
- Deflection: Shield-only. Doesn't fire with a 2H equipped, keep a shield in the bag if you want this option.
- Lifetap sustain: Touch of Sever + Touch of the Wailing Three + the Shroud of the Nightborn proc + Marrow Thirst Horror return are the actual healing engine. Heals don't come from a class spell, they come from the rotation.
Field Test, Gyrospire Beza
Level-80 reds at level 75. Solo and with the melee DPS merc.
- Solo parse: ~1.8k DPS sustained. Pet at 55–80 DPS.
- With Melee DPS merc: Player ~1.8k, merc ~1.4k, combined ~3k+. Mobs die roughly twice as fast.
- Healing: 100,000 self-healed across the run. 35,000 overheal. 214 of 444 potential heals landed. ~335 HPS.
- Big heals: Largest landed 4,300. Max potential 13,000 (the rest was overhealed off).
- Average heal: 510, most healing comes from many small lifetap and dot-proc returns, not from the burst tap.
- Overheal rate: 24%. Acceptable headroom, not wasting much, not at risk.
- Killshot procs: Mortal Coil firing on every kill, plus Remorseless Demeanor priming the next lifetap.
Add handling: Two-mob pulls survived clean, Soul Carapace pop, snare the new one, dot it up, rotation. Lifetap throughput scales with the dot count, so adds make sustain easier, not harder.
Coming at 80–85
What this kit is missing today and gets soon.
- Burn buttons: Not yet wired, the explicit burn window comes in the 80–85 bracket.
- Harm Touch: Available now but not in the rotation yet, a burn slot when the kit fills out.
- Epic 2.0: Target around 80–85. Unlocks the swarm-and-burn play pattern this character is built around long-term.
- Challenge for Power upgrade: Higher ranks add melee absorb, moves it from "hate tick" to a real defensive layer.

Hello and welcome to how I solo my level 75 Shadow Knight. Today we’re going to talk about Shadow Knight and soloing with one. Uh so we are 75 and we have good gear. Uh so keep that in mind. All right, so let’s just go through the spells real fast so we can kind of talk about some things here. So the first one I got here is Black Talon Bite. This is a uh what is this? A nuke with a uh heal um that does uh mana regen plus uh uh to the whole group. So, it’s a nice little spell. Uh it’s pretty quick and uh gives me back mana. So, it’s nice. Touch of the whailing three. This is a life tab. Does a th000 damage uh and then gives me extra health. Okay, if we come over here to the uh combat dummy uh number two, we gained uh we gained about 1,000 health. Uh I can’t see it cuz I already had it on. Uh and then we have rot roots spear uh which is just a nuke for uh 1,200. It goes out there pretty quick. There we go. Uh then we have Ignite Blood. Now, ignite blood is a level 61 spell. Um, but I keep it memorized because it is a dot and it is still a little extra damage. It is not the best spell. Uh, you could probably think of a million different things to put in this slot, but from what I’ve been fighting, and I I fight mostly raid mobs with this guy solo, uh, it is definitely in the direction of helping me kill things faster, right? Uh uh I just put I use it here like this numpad 2. Throw it on. Don’t even think about it. You know, it’s doing 158 with focuses and stuff, but it is definitely uh a nice one there. Now, uh next up, I have Bond of Black Talon. Uh this is a life tap over time. So, this one, uh you can see this is a level 71 spell. It only does 293 uh damage, right? Um but it will heal me for up to 1,300. So you can see where that ignite blood seemed pretty low, but now, you know, added to this is, you know, it’s a little nice little addition there. All right. And then we have blood of the black talon, which is another dot, which is 370 damage. Now, if we go back to this, this level 61 spell was 125 damage, but came 150 uh 150 after mods, right? Now, this one uh 400, 500, 374, and then 924 crits. So, you know, dots are kind of kind of where it’s at, right? And you want to kind of keep all your dots on at all times, right? Uh I believe we have three right now. Yeah, there is a disease dot I don’t think I’m using, but uh that works there. Now, then we have Touch of Sever, which is a 1,200 point life tap. Just boom, get your health back, right? 1,700 health back. Uh then I keep terror up. So, when I’m running a mercenary, I can get it off of her. Uh or I use this to pull, right? This is my favorite kind of spell for pulling because it’s instant. I can be like running like this. Boom. Pull. And I can immediately shift to change my direction to uh bring it to where I want. Then we have challenge for power. Now, this spell is pretty interesting. It puts a debuff on the target, right? So, puts a debuff on the target, but you There we go. There lagged or something. uh 27 second debuff which will increase my armor class which should be showing up somewhere around here. I think it’s this one. Yeah. So, this increases my armor class. This gives me hatred over time. So, that debuff on him is giving me back 666 hatred every 6 seconds for 30 seconds, giving me all that stuff, right? But then I get my armor class here. Later editions will absorb damage, but uh this one does not. So that and then we have a decrepit skin here at the end. Gives us uh a sickly hue. Sometimes absorb the impact of attacks. Now you want to have this up at all times. Uh you can see here it’s 40 charges six minutes. So it’s going to be permanently memorized for the rest of the game. That spell line anyway, right? Uh and uh I guess I do not I guess I don’t have it on a button. Uh let’s put it right here. shift numpad 7 so we can just instantly cast that. I don’t know why it’s not on a button. So, uh it’s pretty nice there. So, that’s the spells I use like normally, right? Uh then we we got at uh 75, we picked up Dark Lords Unity AIA, which will give us a whole lot of self buffs. Uh so, Shroud of the Nightbor, which is our level 72 shroud. uh Marorrow thirst horror which is a uh proc attack which will give us uh several uh some healing on our next attacks. And then we get cloak, a corruption, which will uh increase our hit points, armor class, and a damage shield, which uh if we go to shroud, I didn’t talk. This one gives us a chance to life tap. So doubling that. Remorseless demeanor gives us uh next life tap to Yeah. So we get a bigger life tap if we kill something. So we’re solo. Uh, so that’s going off a lot. And then dark bargain uh turns us into a skeleton and uh converts uh our health into a mana. Well, I’ll just click this one more time so you can see the skeleton form. There you go. It’s just a normal skeleton right there. So, it’s pretty basic. Uh looks really good with the uh Shadow Knight epic there. Uh and let’s see here. I I still do Grim Aura. uh like I don’t do it a lot because sometimes it doesn’t stick because I got external buffs, but I don’t today. So, this gives me a little bit more attack. It’s 1609 right now. Uh I do Banshee aura, which is another lower level spell, but it is a damage shield stacks. Um like that, you have to have a pearl in your bag to use it. And we can’t see our damage shield, but uh uh maybe we’ll go kill something or something and see how this works. But uh that and then let’s see damage shield. Uh pet shambling minion is our pet is this thing right here. I I have an illusion on it to turn it into the blood bag that I This is like the coolest model in the game. I think personally it’s like Slimer with uh blood and then uh amplify death to buff him so he has haste, right? Uh and then that’s all of that. Now, the way I play this character is a multi-bind, right? I multi-bind all my characters because I am lazy as could possibly be. Now, what is a multi-bind? A multi-bind is binding every single character or every key on your hot bar to the same button. So, when you push one button, it does it on all of them, right? So, I’m bound on four and five. So, if I come over to this guy, see, I have these labeled multivine, which just turns a tag on. Uh, pet attack, pet swarm, merc assist. So if I have a merk out it will assist me. So if I just start spamming four that’s all I’m doing. So it’s going to cast black talon root rot touch and then uh touch again touch of severance. So touch of the wailing touch of the severance and stuff like that. You can see there we procked moral thirst challenge for power goes off. Touch again. And we’re going to kind of try to keep challenge of power going. Uh right now it’s it’s probably not as as important, but later on it will absorb melee damage and it is our filler spell. Um now you’ll see if we look here, we are swinging in between our spellcast, right? Um now if I stop hitting any buttons, my hands are on the keyboard, right? I’m not hitting any buttons. Uh our our melee goes up a little bit, right? We’re attacking slightly faster, but uh not really that big of a deal difference, right? Uh if you don’t like a challenge in there, uh I I’m I’m iffy on it, right? But uh if you don’t like it in there, you can just drop that out of the multivine. It works fine. Now, something I am also doing when so when I’m not hitting the multi multivine, I do do my dots. So I do numpad two. You can see right here, numpad 3, numpad four, numpad four. Come on. There you go. And then numpad 5 is just challenge. So I take it out of the multi-bind. I can pop it there. And then I can go back into my multi, right? Later on when challenger power, you know, gives us the ability to absorb the next few hits. Uh, you know, we’re probably going to want to keep it in there at the very end. So it’s the last thing that goes when we have nothing else to cast. But you can see there we doing we’re doing pretty well. Like uh my pet is getting his ass beat by this mer by this thing. Uh definitely uh pretty good there. So let’s back him off. Stop him. All right, so you can kind of see how how it plays. Let’s uh let’s go find somewhere to go like go slot or something real quick. Uh level 75. Give me one moment. All right, so we are in uh Gyro Spire Abasia, right? These are uh going to be red mobs level 80. Uh and we’re going to use these as kind of our uh guinea pig here, right? So, let’s just start out multiind. And uh this is us fighting level 80 mobs at level 75. Right. You can kind of see like uh let me move uh this bar over here. There we go. Like let’s get let’s get our knots on here cuz we’re kind of missing out here, right? I do not I I was dumb. I did not summon my uh my mercenary to get us the healing we probably might need. But you can see here we’re absorbing most of it just fine. Uh you can see our DPS is about 2k uh give or take depending on how uh fast I’m jamming the button here. But uh we’re at the top of the uh tower right like I have a teleporter that teleports me literally right there. It’s like the greatest thing in the world. Oh, it makes it so easy to just kind of, you know, just do a little, right? You see there, we got 6A from that. Uh, let’s pull this guy. We’re going to snare him. We’re going to dot him up first. Right now, I don’t think we have any external buffs right, but I don’t think we uh really do. There we go. And we go into our multiang now that we got our three dots on there. Right. Takes a little bit of time. Sometimes we’re getting hit right now. Now, keep in mind this character is in full uh Omens of War raid gear, right? So, he’s wearing a level uh that’s not that’s not what is this guy even wearing. He’s wearing tainted energetic plate, right? Okay. So, this is uh this is raid gear from something. Uh is this type eight? Uh I think this is from uh secrets of fadors. I think it’s the raid gear from this expansion. Right. And I’m using a great axe of the twin flame which is a 3.2 ratio weapon. Uh I also have uh the Jan’s Veil. So I I am a little uh I’m a little spicy, right? Uh, but that’s how I’m playing this character and whatnot. So, there we go. Let’s get him dotted up. And let’s instead of like looking at AA, right? Let’s take this Let’s take this to real experience. Let’s uh I think we’re already Yeah, we have zero zero% into 75. Let’s get the last one on there and kind of go with it. Right now, we’re going to get an ad, it looks like. Yep. So, now we have two, which is going to be like the real challenge, right? You’re going to see how uh how we’re going to be able to handle this here. Uh I’m going to pop soul carropos. I didn’t talk about this one yet, but I don’t. Uh but that is a uh discipline for uh lowering our aggro. Not our aggro, our um damage that we take. It’s a mini defensive. I didn’t talk about that. I didn’t talk about deflection. I can’t pop deflection cuz I don’t have a shield on at the moment. I don’t even think I have a shield in my bag. So, keep that in mind. All right, let’s snare this guy. Let’s get him dotted up. There we go. He’s bonded and we’re good to go. So, yeah, was, you know, not a real panicky situation, right? We were able to handle all of that. Now, you’ll notice we’re almost done on our charges here of decrepit skin. Um, so that’s going to be something we’re going to want to probably refresh as soon as possible just to make sure we don’t use that. There we go. Cuz that is a a good damage, you know, reducing that ability. But our life taps are really sustaining us, right? Uh that is really the key to this and how this works, right? You kind of see here our heals in this this one there. So, uh let me uh let me get some mana and reummon my pet and uh let’s go ahead and pop out the merk real quick. Let’s pop her. Uh I don’t even know which one I got in here. I got swinethor here. So, I want really want swinethtor. Do I have swinethor the healer? I don’t. And then uh you want to make sure you buff your pet cuz uh it’ll it’ll probably die. Let’s get uh let’s get the skeletal healer here. There we go. Perfect. And uh we should be good. I’m only popping the mercenary so I don’t lose lo use the pet again. I shouldn’t, as you saw, I shouldn’t need any healing, but the pet uh pet definitely needs it. Maybe let’s actually just go the DPS mercenary just to kind of speed this up. And we weren’t even buffed with cleric buffs. So, we gained like 3,000 hit points, maybe 4,000 hit points there. So, something uh something worth doing. All right, let’s pop swine tour. Ah, we want to solo. We don’t we don’t want to we don’t want to really go out of our way to like try to die here. I’m trying with this one maybe. All right, there we go. So, I am uh putting my dots on. Right, we have uh three dots and then we go straight into the multivine which will start healing us back up. And you can kind of see, you know, like that’s the pet, right? He’s doing 100 100 DPS. Not really much to sit right home about. I’m doing 1.8. The Merk’s doing 1.4 1.5. So, you can kind of see, you know, where that’s all coming in like damage wise. And, you know, it’s already dead cuz we’re doing so much more damage with the mercenary. Let’s pull this guy over here. Kind of kind of do what I do in all my uh my, you know, little capstone videos. cuz I’m just doing it all in one. Uh so we can get the DPS parsing in the same one and then uh I can include the in I can include the DPS parsing in the uh written guide. There will be a written guide on hammockj.com uh after this video comes out. So expect that it’ll cover everything that I’ve talked about today. Uh in the rotation. So the rotation is pretty simple as I said. It’s uh um bite. So, black talon bite. Uh rot root rot or Yeah. Yeah. Rot root spear. Tricky words. Touch of the whailing three and touch of the sever. I taunt on cooldown and then uh challenge of power which is I would say optional depending on uh how you want to play it but uh I’m doing it in there just so I’m ready for it later on and my timings are are adjusted correctly. So, we’re going to get our dots on here and get him going there. And then straight into the multi-bind, which is going to start getting our healing going. And uh get the, you know, it throws the little group heal out that should like throw a heal on everybody else. Pretty nice. Too bad at all. Right. And I think this will be the last one. So I’m getting like 1.5. He’s getting a th00andish DPS. We’ll we’ll look at the stats here in just a second. Let’s see how how well that went. All right. So let’s do that. Uh let’s see. Death beast. All right. So, if we come over here to the parsing and we grab these ones right here, these are the ones we just did. And then we look at the DPS summary. So, over all those mobs, I did about 1,800 DPS. Uh, the swine to wasn’t on all the mobs, but he did about 1,200. Now, we had the first pet, he did about 55 DPS. Second pet did 80 DPS. Um, it’s the just what it is, right? He did more damage. We killed more mobs, right? So, uh, works out pretty well. If we look at the healing chart here, let’s look at the healing summary. It’s fine. Look, so we didn’t have a healer ming merc out, right? So, you know, we healed ourself, you know, 99% of the time. Uh, which is, uh, let’s see here. Uh, 100,000 healing, 35,000 overheal, you know, 144 potential heals. So, we have about what 330 35 uh healing per second. Uh I don’t even know what SHPS is. Scaled healing per second. So, that’s probably not related to any of this. Potential was 444. So, we did 214 heals. Our biggest heal was 40 4,300 and our max potential heal was 13,000. What? Oh, so if we didn’t get over healed, our biggest heal would have been 13,000. The average heal is about 510. So if we look at that like in here, right, you can kind of see these touches and these dots over time. Those are really where it’s coming from. A lot of that is where that’s coming from. Uh we don’t have luck yet. And uh we have 24% overhealing, right? So it’s not too bad. Uh we got the kill shot on all of those. So, you know, as we get the kill shots on mobs, we do get extra perks, right? Uh we do get u uh I think we got it. I think we have it right now. Right. It’s uh class mortal coil. Yeah. So, we have mortal coil. So, once we proc once we get the kill, we proc that. Wait. So, let’s grab this guy right here. Bring him last breath. Um, yeah. All right, we can get these ones. That was hilarious. Man. All right, so we’re just going to skip the dots on these ones and just kind of kill them real quick. Now, uh, we do have harm touch and stuff like that. I didn’t talk about that. We don’t have any burn buttons set up. We don’t really have a lot of things yet. That’s going to come in about 80 85 and we’ll talk about that. Now, we do have Chattering Bone, which I did not use. We’ll use it on uh we’ll put it on this guy right here. Chattering Bones. You see the little skeleton pets right there. Uh they’re just going to come out and do a lot of little extra damage and stuff like that. It is what it is. Uh I save it for burns on Shadow Knight. I don’t really use it on cool down as much. Uh mostly because it’s kind of annoying. Now, why is it annoying? Because you’re, you know, you’re running around and you got to swarm pets out and uh it messes up your pulling sometimes. It’s a 10-minute reuse. So, you know, it’s your choice there. But, uh, you know, I’m I’m holding off on it, right? So, it’s pretty nice. Uh, we have, you know, all these other clickies and stuff, but it’s pretty much how it is. There we go. I didn’t mean to fall off. is really what happened there. All right, let’s uh let’s go somewhere over here and uh can go ahead and wrap this up. So, that is that is how I solo this guy, right? He’s pretty pretty beefy. Uh I’ve if you watch the series Nagaraji Journey, you’ll see exactly, you know, how I built this character from absolutely nothing uh and worked him all the way up to what he is today. Uh, we, you know, we have a very special mechanic in this, in that series where we do the Gudas. Uh, I think I ate all my Gudas already. Uh, yeah, I ate all my Gudas to get the gear that I’m wearing right now. Uh, and that that mechanic allows me if I kill a raid mob, I get a Guda to then spend it on getting a raid item, right? And so we did that for all the stuff from uh these raids that we’re able to kill and uh get get the raid items, right? It’s it’s an interesting mechanic that I’ve had fun with. But uh you know, it’s not just straight twinking. You know, we had to earn the first few Gudas, so it’s definitely a fun class to play. Uh I definitely recommend it. Uh if you enjoy uh being really strong, right, we’re going to be working towards the epic 2.0. O here at the level 80, level 85. Uh, and we’ll have that and we’ll show the true power. Uh, we should be able to do some swarming where we pull like multiple mobs. We probably come back to this zone and, you know, pretty much get a train and beat it down uh, fairly easy. So, you know, stay we’ll try and see how that goes and uh, whatnot. But that is how I solo my level 75 Shadow Knight. If you have any questions or comments, leave them down below. Uh, if I did something totally wrong and you didn’t like it, leave it down below and let me know and we can talk about it. Thank you very much for watching. Please have a fantastic day.
