The end of Hamrok Slays Undead. Three accounts cancelled, three characters deleted so they cannot be reactivated, and a shift from playing a six box to making guides. Plus what I learned about which class combinations actually work.

The earliest of the series endings, and the one that sets up all the others. Three accounts are cancelled and three characters are being deleted specifically so I cannot change my mind and reactivate them. What replaces it is a deliberate shift: fewer characters, more guides, and one main with two supports instead of a six box. On the way out I give a genuinely useful read on which class combinations were worth running.

Why It Ends Here

Deleting them is the point.

  • Six boxing has become too much, and three accounts are already cancelled.
  • The characters are being deleted deliberately so the account cannot be reactivated on a whim.
  • They would not reach 130 in time anyway, with a month or two left before the accounts lapse, so there is nothing to salvage by pushing.
  • About 45 videos are queued, which is what the time goes to instead.
  • ISBoxer does not run on Linux, and the migration is happening regardless, so the decision is partly made for me.

What the Box Taught Me

The most reusable part of the video.

  • Paladin with Shaman and Bard is the superior combination for a Paladin, in my view, after running both.
  • Shadowknight probably prefers Druid and Enchanter, and the Druid pairing in particular felt strong on Firiona Vie for the added damage it brings.
  • Wizard is top damage at 130, so it is a safe class to take all the way.
  • Magicians stay good indefinitely.
  • None of these are wrong choices, so anyone following the series can carry on with whichever they picked.

The New Shape

Characters become disposable, guides do not.

  • One main character with two supports, either alt tabbed or true boxed rather than driven by software.
  • Supporting characters exist to get a class to 130 so it can have a guide, which makes them interchangeable by design.
  • The main character stays. Hamrok is not in the disposable category.
  • Every level should have a video from here, with backfill planned for whatever is missing, probably Enchanter.
  • Frostreaver is next, 22 days out, with a Beastlord as the character to take there.

On how you all play: almost everyone I talk to runs either one to three characters or a full six, with very little in between, and I am deliberately neutral about which is right.

Hello and welcome to Hamrock Slay Undead today. This is the final episode. I I I’ve said it on stream I wasn’t going to continue these guys. I said it in another video. And this is just the end cap video to kind of show that, right? Like this this is a solid group, right? Don’t get me wrong. I am I’m actually I canceled three of my accounts. So I’m I just I can’t I just can’t take six boxing anymore. It’s just too much for me. I so like Voxel uh I believe Catka and Holdridge they’re they’re they’re like a month away, maybe 2 months before they’re gone. They’re not going to get the 130 before then. So there’s no point in no point in even going, right? So with that said, I have about 45 videos on my to-do list. So leveling these guys these the the three that remain up just doesn’t make sense right now. Not that I’m not that I’m not going to return to you know, Hamrock here the Paladin. But I think I’m going to focus more on this server with the warrior the Shaman and the Bard, you know, trying to progress through all the different uh things we have not done yet. When we do you know, the Hamrock alive series. So I think that’s what will you know, that that’s how that will that will work out. With Frostriver starting in uh what? 22 days. I I don’t see much more more of this this happening cuz we you know, I do plan on playing the Beast Lord on Frostriver as the uh as the character to go, you know. So that is that is kind of thing, right? Like it’s solid group, you know, Paladin is very strong. I think a Shadow Knight might be better with the Druid Enchanter combo. And the I feel like like after playing uh uh after playing Paladin with a sha- a Shaman and a Bard, I feel like that is that is a superior combo for the Paladin itself. Uh but, you know, your mileage will vary and you know, see how it goes. I I I’m doing uh on FV, I’m leveling up my uh Shadow Knight and uh all that crew that I had there to 130 for their videos. And you know, having the Druid with the Shadow Knight and stuff like that has been really nice and on all honesty. Like if it feels like I can do more with damage with the Druid and uh focus more on, you know, the Shadow Knight doing different things. So, uh with the ADPS they provide, stuff like that, it feels feels really good, but you know, your mileage will vary. Now, >> [music] >> uh the Wizard, you know, is top DPS at 130, so that’s a solid class to go all the way. And the Mages, they they’re great until uh you know, forever. So, you know, you’re you’re not going wrong with any of these classes, you know, if you’re if you were playing along with the series and stuff like that, you can continue uh as is and you’ll have no problem. >> [music] >> Uh there should be videos for every single ever every every level from this point on at least. If not, I’ll probably uh do some backfill on whatever class is missing. It’s probably the Enchanter is missing stuff, but uh I think we have some higher level Enchanter videos. So, we’ll figure that out when I when I start looking at those classes to see what videos are missing on the uh on the website for uh guides and stuff like that, but the uh the combo’s solid. I had fun uh fun streaming it and stuff like that, but I I’m I’m dropping to one character is really what it’s going to be. One character with two support characters, right? Uh I’m either going to be all tabbing those characters or I’m going to be uh true boxing those characters uh when it comes to it. I am uh I’m going to moving the Linux, you know, like I’m changing everything. And so, six-boxing with ISBoxer just does not happen in Linux, right? Uh and so, you know, just to like save myself the grief, you know, might as well wrap all that up now and uh kind of, you know, be done with it. You know, it’s it’s it’s fun, but uh it just it wears on me. And with EverQuest Legends coming out, I I know I I probably won’t be boxing at all, in all honesty. [music] Uh so, there is uh you know, you know, some things there that’s uh worth talking about later on, but uh definitely that is, you know, it’s the end. >> [laughter] >> So. Uh we’ll be uh you know, wrapping up I I did the uh the how I play them all together video, so I’ll be wrapping up any uh lingering things for these guys. Um I’m actually deleting these three, so I don’t reactivate the account, so. [laughter] Uh that’s uh you know, that’s that’s going to be uh that’s how I’m rolling. It’s going going to be deleting them all. Uh but we’ll uh you know, it’ll be fun. I do have plans for, you know, continuing stuff, just in case, you know, the Frost Reaver stuff doesn’t work out the way I want. Uh I do have a backup plans for different characters that are still in play, like Nomergard, so. Uh we’ll see how that goes. But there we go. That is uh you know, like my focus from this point on uh is going to be making guides. And so, the characters are going to be more disposable, uh if you will. And uh you know, the main character, obviously, this uh Hamrock is the main character, so he’s not as disposable, right? Uh but like all these other ones are going to be more disposable and interchangeable and whatnot to get us to the point where we have a guide for every single video. Uh the boxes will be just support classes to ensure that like I can get to 130 with, you know, a ranger or 130 with that. Uh, I I feel like my viewers are mostly playing single characters. You know, it’s like it feels to me in every from everybody I’ve talked to, they’re either playing one or two characters and up to three or they’re playing six, right? There’s like not much in between. And there’s, you know, >> [music] >> anywhere from, you know, people playing all tabbing one one or two characters, all tabbing six characters, ISBoxer six characters, third-party software, six, you know, plus characters, right? So, it just depends on the thing, right? And I’m I’m I’m pretty open to any anybody I talk to anybody. I don’t really have any kind of views like that. So, it’s, you know, it is what it is, but uh you know, uh moving forward, I’m I’m trying to downsize my uh my character my character footprint and whatnot.
